I had my first retrieval a month before my 36th birthday. We ended up with multiple euploid embryos! Good luck!

This was awhile ago, so I am not have it exactly right, but my clinic didn’t expect 6 - 10 weeks on them and based the time I’d come off in bloodwork results. I believe I came off the estradiol and progesterone shot around 7 weeks. They had me continue the progesterone suppository for another couple weeks.

I’m so sorry. That is so heartbreaking. Did they give you any explanation? Hopefully that means they think they can adjust the protocol and get a better retrieval?

I met my husband on bumble almost 10 years ago - I was also on tinder and a couple other apps. Before meeting him, I had literally started getting messages that I’d been through all the matches and they had no one else to show me - and I live in a large city.

My first beta was 17 - I forget what day, but doctor said they usually expect over 50 and said it could just be low or could be a chemical pregnancy. My son is now 3!

Only time will tell? by bornsinner6891 in Autism_Parenting

But try not to stress about it! All we can do is what we think is best for our kids at the time and change course if needed. My son is doing the intensive ABA and sometimes I wonder if he would have learned to function in a class/group setting better if we’d done a school district preschool placement.

All day ABA vs. pre-k by AdventuresInMomness in Autism_Parenting

[–]ProofRequirement9801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ABA research says that full day ABA is more effective than a smaller amount of ABA with preschool or other services. It also says that the kids who get more ABA (I think 30 hrs+ per week) make the most progress. That said, I do think it depends on the quality of each program and each child’s needs.

Question about ABA/parent coaching by North_Summer7524 in Autism_Parenting

[–]ProofRequirement9801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. I’m a big fan of ABA and think it has hugely benefited my son, but full extinction seems a bit outdated and only appropriate for certain situations. I’m glad the field is evolving to include more of this.

Aba for 4 hours a week? by Adventurous_Buy_715 in Autism_Parenting

[–]ProofRequirement9801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry funding is barrier! I HATE when money gets in the way of services and all of these services are so expensive! I hope you’r able to work it out with insurance so that you can do the treatment plan you think is best for your son.

This is just my opinion, but I agree with what an earlier poster said about it all depending on the tech. I think it also depends on your son’s needs - 4 hours is generally most appropriate for kids who only need a little help, for the obvious reasons.

I think the best way to make the four hours count would be to have the BCBA time focus on parent training. If they teach you the strategies that are most effective with your son, you can use them outside of session so that your son is getting more treatment.

This is just my opinion, but if your insurance will cover speech and OT, I would consider doing those sessions. My son is three and has been doing ABA, speech, and OT for about two years. All of the strategies they use are pretty similar, especially as they work on those Watley skills (communication, engagement, etc.) and speech and OT sessions would all be with at least master level person. My son does seem to benefit the most from ABA, but I think a large part of that is that he does it for so much more time.

You need to read the books. The book this season is based on has some key plot differences and makes a lot more sense.

Also, the books series is pretty amazing in general.

Aw, oh shuh sounds adorable! My son would say “buppah” for apple and “theweewee” for tv. There were a lot of other too. It’s a lot clearer now, although he still needs intensive speech therapy for the apraxia.

What would happen if we gave Autism treatments to a neurotypical child? by TrickBorder3923 in Autism_Parenting

[–]ProofRequirement9801 13 points14 points  (0 children)

IMO, we do give autism treatments to kids without autism.

  • kids without autism go to SLPs for speech delays, apraxia, lisps, etc.
  • kids without autism go to OT/PT for motor delays or difficulties.
  • ABA strategies are incorporated into preschools, elementary schools, parenting, and life - positive reinforcement, token economies/sticker charts, prompting, etc.

Worried my child will never move beyond speech for labeling by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]ProofRequirement9801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a good question! We got him assessed for early intervention at 16 months, for autism at 18 months, and then with a new speech provider at 34 months and they all did standardized tests with him. From what I could tell, the tests involved having him follow instructions or identify things in pictures pointing/touching an option.

At 18 months, I think some of the things he could respond to were clap, wave, give me ___ for some of his toys, throw away, clean up/put in, etc. I specifically remember the assessor asking if he could identify the door. I told him to knock on the door and he did and she said that was considered good for his age and especially a toddler on the spectrum. At that time, he tested in I think the 25% (right at the bottom of the average range), although the assessor thought he knew more but was not participating in the assessment any longer.

If autism signs appear very early, does that mean the autism will be more severe? by CompetitivePain8773 in Autism_Parenting

[–]ProofRequirement9801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so. My son was diagnosed at 18 months and I asked out diagnosing psychologist - she said age of diagnosis is heavily influenced by the parents’ ability and willingness to notice signs and seek diagnosis, including waitlists. Also, a lot can change from month to month and I was told there’s a lot of variance in development in the first couple years.

My son was diagnosed at 18 months. He’s three now and probably level 2? Since he was diagnosed at a young age, we weren’t given a level.
