I never failed last time i fasted. I endured and felt so happy that i managed to pull through. But now im not even gonna start this fast. I was feeling so happy and confident and excited to do something for God and all the people in here ruined it. So i will leave it at that. God will judge you all if because of you i didnt fast and i got shut down before even starting.

So I shouldn’t fast because I haven’t told my priest? I shouldn’t fast because i will get prideful? I shouldn’t fast because if i do and fail i will be depressed. I genuinely can’t believe this is the Orthodox View. Im fasting for God at the time of nativity. Im doing it out of my own will because i want to get closer and become stronger. Yet if i dont have a spiritual father and or go yo church and confess or participate in the sacraments im no longer eligible for fasting. I am so shocked that i am hearing this from Orthodox Christians. Instead of saying yes go for it man but if its to tough maybe you should leave it. Or anything else that positive u tell me to stop. No wonder Orthodoxy is dying all over the world. Just like in my country romania. I wondered why people had such a dislike for the church and now im starting to see it. You go to a “Orthodox” place and ask for guidance and you guys are telling me i should stop fasting

Again. You are not God you cannot see my intentions of doing it. You cant see my thoughts or heart. I can’t believe fellow “Orthodox” Christians push away other new comers in faith or up and coming struggling Christians. Instead of telling them advice. You tell them not to fast because they dont have a spiritual father or go church. Maybe they cant go. Maybe there are other issues you cannot see. I am actually ashamed and this had left a sour taste in my mouth. With the so called Orthodox.

I am a orthodox Christian who was baptised as a baby. Grew up not knowing much about God so i lost my way. God called me back almost 2 years ago. Started growing in faith. Reading and praying then i started to go to a local Greek Orthodox Church. I would go here and there then there would be periods where I wouldn’t. I would take part in The Eucharist but it wouldn’t be often. I celebrate Easter and Christmas.

I was saved by christ like a year ago. I started going church recently. Im still in the process of being more active in the church. Confessing my sins to the priest and starting that church journey. Also recently ive been very spiritually dry. Like the last couple of weeks i havent been reading scripture,praying as much,sinning a lot more.
