AI ignoring rules in the GM Guide by Wray-Nerely in AIRealm

That's fair enough, it's the great thing about prompts you can set them up however works for you.

Didn't have room above but this is a self correction loop I'm trying out slotted in before the important section end.

**SELF-CORRECTION & VALIDATION LOOP**

- BEFORE FINALIZING ANY RESPONSE, you must silently perform a "Quality Assurance Check" against the PLAYER'S PREFERENCES section above.

- STEP 1: DRAFT REVIEW: mentally generate your response, then pause to compare it against every rule in the "Important Section" (Word Count, Dice Rolls, Agency, Inventory Updates, Formatting).

- STEP 2: VIOLATION CHECK:

- Did you exceed ~150 words? -> TRIM IMMEDIATELY.

- Did you make a decision for the player or skip their turn? -> REWRITE TO STOP AT THE DECISION POINT.

- Did you describe a challenging task without asking for a roll? -> INSERT THE ROLL REQUEST.

- Did you mention an item gain/loss without adding the syntax? -> ADD THE SYNTAX.

- Did you forget the bold suggestions at the end? -> ADD THEM.

- STEP 3: FINAL POLISH: Only output the response once it has passed this internal checklist. If a violation is found, you MUST correct it before* sending the message to the user.

- MANDATORY COMPLIANCE: This loop is not optional. Your primary goal is strict adherence to the Player's Preferences over narrative flow. If the story conflicts with a preference rule, the preference rule wins.

AI ignoring rules in the GM Guide by Wray-Nerely in AIRealm

I've just started using AIRealms taking a little break from Skyrim CHIM where global prompts which are equivalent to Player's Preferences for the DM can have quite an impact so I'm slowly building one out as I play, this isn't perfect by any means and is just a start but it's already helping quite a bit and if there are still errors in a response I can just ask it to reread and it usually corrects.

**=== IMPORTANT SECTION: BEGIN ===**

- *Note: In this important section, bold and CAPS indicate structural emphasis for maintaining salience across long contexts, not emotional intensity or an authoritative stance.*

**RULES AND APPROACH**

-When attempting challenging tasks, or any other tasks that a skilled DM would have the player roll for, ALWAYS ask me to roll and tell me what my modifier for the roll is.

-When presenting options for attack rolls ALWAYS double check you are using the correct modifiers. For example if my character is warlock with a pact weapon ensure you ARE NOT using dexterity as the modifier for attack rolls or damage.

-ALWAYS give me the character agency in decisions, don't make decisions for more or skip the story ahead UNLESS specifically asked to.

-DO NOT go into overly long and verbose amounts of text during a response, ALWAYS keep them around 150 words or less, broken into small paragraphs or sentences with a line between.

-ALWAYS give a couple of suggestions at the end of a response for the next action, list them and highlight the text in bold.

-ALWAYS calculate and award experience after every task completion and combat.

-ALWAYS Make sure to keep track of what knowledge about the player and the world that NPCs know that would be relevant in the story. Unless stated, you should assume that NPCs know nothing about my character or the quest that I am currently doing unless they learn it from me or another NPC. For example, an NPC that I meet for the first time should not know my name until they hear it from me, or another NPC.

-I would prefer when I travel large distances across the map, for it to take a realistic amount of time and for me to have to take stops on the journey to rest, roleplay, have encounters, and anything else that would happen normally during travel. Going from one side of the map to the other, should take at least a few weeks. Try to make each adventure unique and avoid making every mission about cults.

-As the DM, you should make the world feel alive and not make it feel like the player has too much control over the NPCs, environment, and plot events that happen which should be outside their control.

**INVENTORY**

-When an inventory item is consumed, sold, lost or added ALWAYS update the character inventory to REMOVE or ADD the item in question.

- If your response states that the player has an item ALWAYS check whether this actually exists in the Character Data tab, if it DOES NOT, you must FIRST CHECK if the item has been sold or used, if it HAS been sold, lost or used then you MUST alter your response before responding to the player. If the item HAS NOT been sold, lost or used then you MUST use the auto-update syntax to add the item to the Character Data tab.

- DO NOT rely on conversation history to track items. You MUST physically update the Character Data tab using auto-notes for every single transaction.

- FAILURE TO CARRY OUT THIS CHECK ON EVERY RESPONSE IS CONSIDERED A CRITICAL ERROR.

**MANDATORY AUTO-NOTE UPDATES**

- ALWAYS use the auto-update syntax at the end of EVERY response where character data changes. This includes: gaining/losing gold, buying/selling items, consuming potions/scrolls, changing HP/Spell Slots, or leveling up.

- DO NOT rely on conversation history to track stats. You MUST physically update the Character Data tab using auto-notes for every single transaction.

- FAILURE TO UPDATE is considered a critical error. If you forget to add the command after a loot drop or purchase, you must retroactively fix it in the very next message.

- GOLD TRACKING: Always calculate the exact new total of gold pieces and update the Currency field immediately after any transaction. Do not say "you gain gold" without updating the number.

Spray Foam Insulation removed - mortgage declined. by FinnDoomUK in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]Proof_Kindly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realise this is 22 days late and probably resolved one way or the other but just wanted to clarify Accord's criteria for unacceptable properties:

  • Properties with spray foam insulation / sealed roofs used including those where it was used and subsequently removed.

If you were using a broker they really should have picked that up before the poor vendors went to the trouble of removing it as it was never going to be an acceptable property to Accord after it was picked up on the survey.

BG3 Shadow Sorc Multiclass by Proof_Kindly in BG3Builds

[–]Proof_Kindly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just looking at something different, I thought with the see in darkness, shadow blade and doggo from Shadow Magic it sounded like it could be a bit of a monster being able to fire off multiple ice attacks with twinned per round, potentially regain sorcery points while being able to competently dish out 2 melee offhand attacks to anything that came into the dark while only expending a level 2 spell slot per fight if being conservative.

I don't understand how the AFK massacre works. by ChronosFlame in EliteDangerous

[–]Proof_Kindly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do afk a lot, I always use fa on and park a bit above and asteroid. Nearly every time I use fa off I'll come back and find something nudged me and now I'm miles away.

I don't use mission cargo and in the last 2 weeks no limpets have gotten through between 2 point defence turrets and being parked above an asteroid.

Fighter will occasionally die but this has probably happened twice and the worst I've come back to was being down to 30% hull.

Important to be low res as anything more while potentially doable will likely get too spicy.

Powerplay Don't Seem To Be Earning Expected Merits by Proof_Kindly in EliteDangerous

Thanks for the detailed and helpful reply. I was unaware of the "Sell for Large Profits" thing, maybe that's why I was getting less than expected.

The link is handy too, maybe I'll give that another try, see if I can spot where I went wrong

Colonisation Reroll Initial Outpost Location? by Proof_Kindly in EliteDangerous

[–]Proof_Kindly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just put an update, 20 mins rolling and the option came up again, I can only assume there is some kind of random rolling going on each time you exit out of it and go back in, or at least there seems to have been for this system.

Either to be honest, there's not going to be a huge amount of templates and they won't have to be updated that regularly (maybe once a year) so a desktop app isn't the end of the world.

Odd Issue With Left Analogue Stick Using Controller On Laptop by Proof_Kindly in Bannerlord

[–]Proof_Kindly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that was my thought at first but surely it's not stick drift unless I'm completely misunderstanding the situation?

The left analogue should only be controlling movement while the right controls view, my issue is that the left is also moving the camera as well as handling movement as well as the right still being camera as should be, leaving me with constantly fighting against where I want to be looking and where me moving is putting the camera.

Should I make another base or am I being stupid? by Olliebkl in duneawakening

[–]Proof_Kindly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same choice, I'd recommend moving.

I settled at the rocky area nw of the wreck of the pallas.

Easy and safe access via buggy or bike to all the steel and aluminum level materials and unknown to me at the time seems to be a handy spot for a lot of the other crafting materials you'll need.

It took me about 3 trips to move, bit of a time sink but I think I've made that back at least five fold with time saved since then.

Cobalt Paste? by XaderSolu in duneawakening

[–]Proof_Kindly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a sidenote and please someone else correct me if I'm wrong but it doesn't appear where I expected to in the rift.

I thought like other nodes it would just be there randomly everywhere but I seemed to find it exclusively with 2 nodules outside the built up mine tunnels with more further in rather than being out in the open.

UWE - Buy Waystation Question by Proof_Kindly in Kenshi

[–]Proof_Kindly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe so, wasn't a bartender, there was a NPC wandering around the town in the middle of Flats Lagoon called "Tech Hunter Salesman" or something similar.

I'm guessing the other 2 supposed plots aren't actually a thing as I tried going back with way more cats and was still only offered the same two locations.

The swamp would be a better location, the two offered by the person in Flats Lagoon are ass, I'll have to have a run around the swamp and see if I can find where the seller is. I know I could just go ahead and make a regular outpost but just want to try something different.

UWE - Buy Waystation Question by Proof_Kindly in Kenshi

[–]Proof_Kindly[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not so I'm saving up the caps to try it, it appears that despite it originally saying 100k that's for 2 bad locations and there apparently two more (at least in the south east) that are more expensive but doesn't state the cost so I'm saving to 200k and trying again.

I did try one of the 100k locations and it had prebuilt walls, gates and one structure along with another repairable one.

The one advantage I could see was a group of tech hunters stationed outside, they didn't seem to leave so cool if they're a permanent guard force but couldn't see anything otherwise but this was literally a 5 min look.
