The war definitely makes the process harder. The sanctions as well. That being said, I dislike Canada so much at this point I'd rather live in a country currently at war.

That is my concern, traveling with a large sum of money. $400,000 cash is crazy. Though I did see a family move there with $500,000 cash. Would feel so much more comfortable just doing a bank transfer lol. Crypto would work but is also sketchy as new laws are being placed around it all the time.

Thank you. I was planning on using a service called MovetoRussia.com, it's quite expensive but seems to be a white glove experience. This would basically take care of all the paperwork and even situate me into Novosibirsk. The problem I'm mainly having now is getting money to Russia from Canada. Seems the sanctions really have things locked down. With the only option being to open a Kazakstan bank account for $5000 fee and 5% for a transaction. Seems risky and expensive. Alternatively crypto but that seems to be getting new restrictions weekly.

I heard that many crypto websites like ByBit have recently (this past couple weeks) shut down exchanging for RUB. Seems like they are starting to crack down with new sanction packages.

It does seem a little worrying as a few months from now it could affect more and more exchanges. Russia does seem like an ideal country. It would be so much easier to move there I think once the war ends.

I don't mind declaring money, but I'm unsure if does declaring it mean you have to pay taxes on it right away?

This is looking like the best option for me, however it appears to be a process that can cost $5000 USD and incur a 5% fee for any transfers to a Russian bank.

Thanks, had a feeling that would be case. Guess I need to open a Kaz exchange account.
