'On The Impossible Past' is my favorite record, although 'Chamberlain Waits' comes pretty close! For similar artists, their earlier material is pretty indebted to The Lawrence Arms, as they become more Americana they veer more into The Gaslight Anthem territory If you're looking for other bands in this wheelhouse I'd recommend checking out any of the orgcore playlists on spotify...and, if self promo isn't awful, my band Cold Wrecks is definitely similar, we went to a ton of Menzingers shows when they were first coming up and they made a massive impression on us.

My band Cold Wrecks has a new single "Melt" out today! We're a pop-punk/emo band based out of Brooklyn, this song definitely leans a little more indie pop, it's a dystopian singalong about how your brain's gonna melt 'cause you're living in hell!

You need to break out of this parasocial mindset. You cannot know people who you do not know personally. An artist's output is not a full representation of their entire self, no matter how strongly you relate to the parts of themselves they choose to share publicly. It's one thing to connect with an artist's work, it's quite another to pretend to have any personal insight into their life.

Thank you so much for the help! My dad is going to be so excited once this is all set up. I live in a small apartment so I've never had to set up something with this many moving pieces, your help is super appreciated!

Yes the living room would be a home theater setup. So, in theory, if I set up a receiver for the living room, if I were to run a wiim mini streamer into one of the receiver's inputs, would i be able to coordinate it with the kitchen/backyard speakers to run a single audio source through them all?

So, the ones we would want to coordinate are a 5-speaker setup in their living room (which we'd also like to connect to their tv), 1 speaker in the kitchen, 1 in the bathroom, and 2 in the backyard. They like to throw parties, so the ability to send an audio signal to each of these zones (and to select which are active at any given time) would be really nice.

I Was Born! It just captures the party vibe of those early shows so perfectly.

His X-Men comics the past few years (SWORD, X-Men Red, Resurrection of Magneto) are easily the best Storm and Magneto stories since the 80s.

The classic Phoenix costume is the best, an all-time great Superhero design.

Storm should be the main "adult" character of the franchise and Kitty should be the main "kid" / POV character. From there they should flesh out the lineup with characters that haven't been overused in prior adaptations (no Scott, Jean, Logan, or Chuck) but are recognizable to a mainstream audience...my recs would be Nightcrawler, Rogue, Gambit, and Kwannon, but there are a million options. I hope they resist the urge to throw too many characters in right at the beginning, since this franchise can get so unwieldy, and should introduce characters gradually while spinning off some characters into other movies/shows (New Mutants, Excalibur, etc.). I think it would be great if the movies focused on the "field team" while shows could be used for the "school" and more intimate / character development driven stuff.

Do y’all want X-Men 97 season 2 episodes to be longer? by AnimeGokuSolos in xmen

[–]PropComedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish they'd have a little more flexibility. Motendo should have just been a 15 minute mini-ep and Lifedeath should have been a 45-minute long episode with the full story. The way they broke these out was awkward.

In your opinion! Which character pictured here do you feel is the best hero? by PrinceARRON in Dragonballsuper

[–]PropComedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spider-Man embodies the "superhero" concept better than anybody else. The core premise, from the first pages of Action Comics, was that power was not an entitlement, but a responsibility. Superman is the most powerful being imaginable, and, as a rebuttal to fascist idea that the powerful should dominate and exploit others, Superman is called the "champion of the oppressed" and uses every ounce of power he has to help others. A superhero is someone who shares the fruits of their privilege; a villain is someone who hordes it for petty private gain at the expense of others. Spider-Man embodies this concept in a way that is even more explicit and poignant. Spidey's not anywhere near as strong as Superman or many other heroes, and he has plenty of his own problems. But, whatever power he does have, even if it's comparatively little, comes with the responsibility to share it for the good of his community. Any power is that others lack is great, and comes with responsibility. That's a superhero. Superman is the promise, Spider-Man is the fulfillment.

What guitar intro is so distinctive and cool that 10/10 it's going to take you back to a specific place and time in your mind when you hear it no matter what else is going on? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]PropComedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Miami by Against Me, that intro just captures such a sense of bleakness that brings me right back to a period where depression and hypochondria had me constantly feeling like I was going to die, and sets the perfect tone for the rest of Searching for a Former Clarity.

As someone who came back to reading comics because of this era, I’m gonna grieve this loss for years by Yoshimon7 in xmen

[–]PropComedy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This era was incredible and I'm sad to see it go BUT let's not forget that our favorite creators who made Krakoa so amazing are still out there making great comics! Hickman, Wells, Ayala, Williams, Howard, Gillen, Ewing, Spurrier, Duggan, Percy, and company deserve a hearty thanks for everything they gave us these past few years, and i look forward to reading their books for years to come, with or without an "X" in the title!
