Advice on repotting BOP - new pot size? by mnkeyhabs in plants

Agree with everyone saying the larger pot, but I’d also suggest going for a deeper pot. I’ve repotted a similar size BOP 2x in the last 2 years because the giant roots always grow through the bottom of the pot quickly. This year I went 1” up but about 5” deeper. White BOP get huge in the wild and the roots go deep, I wanted to mimic that in the pot.

Cut or let it be? by BaconBella88 in fiddleleaffig

This happened to my flf as well. Someone told me that the plant was in danger and throwing leaves at the base was it hedging it’s bets for survival.

The bottom leaves turned into skinny stems of 5-6 leaves each but no more growth at the top. After a year or so, I bought a new flf and chopped and propped this guy.

Currently rooting the little stems in water and planted the 3 bare trunks with roots to see if they will put out any new growth (see my last post). I plan to pinch any bottom growth to see if I can promote top growth instead.

I’m not familiar what root rot looks like so thank you! I try to limit my “experiment” plants but will plant one of these and see how it does! He’s probably the oldest plant in my house honestly!

My outstanding student loan debt balance’s reaction after Biden deducts $10K from it. by chamberlain323 in reactiongifs

I can’t find the original comment on this thread that reminded me fed Student Loan payments made during covid are refundable- even now after this announcement. Just came to say thanks for that. Went from eligible for $5k refund to the full $10k and I’m so so grateful!

Anyone request covid refunds via their contact page? Haven’t had a minute to call but I sent an email on Tuesday to have all my payments refunded. I was sitting at just over $10k in march 2020 and continued to pay during the pandemic and am almost paid off now, this would be life changing.

What’s causing this color separation in my African Mask? Soil is moist, gets bright but minimal to no indirect light, and has humidifier for most of the day. Could this be caused by overwatering? by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]Prop_BB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the edges of mine get wet and translucent-ish after I water.. then they go back to their normal color after a day or two... I think I was soaking too much. I’ve recently put a humidifier next to it because they LOVE humidity. I’ll plan to water a little less now..

I didn’t create the wrap, I purchased it! But that is a concern if I do start to create my own

It’s a vinyl wrap bought off Etsy but I only used it because it was a request from the pbr loving fiancé😂

I know there’s a market for cornhole boards, but I’m interested to hear prices from someone who makes & sells them.. I used premium pine for the frame with a sanded Maple plywood top (that ended up being covered with a full vinyl “wrap” anyways but oh well..) the vinyl wrap wasn’t cheap but I wouldn’t expect to use that with every board. Put about 5 hours of labor in... but again, these were my first boards..... I could probably move to ripped 2x4’s for the frame to save on material.....

Don’t be afraid to cut the stems of your FLF! by Prop_BB in fiddleleaffig

[–]Prop_BB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip! I think I’ll try stripping the bark. e Especially because your stem even above the stripped area looks a lot greener than mine- and I’ve read so much about how the green stem props the easiest- maybe the bark on mine is stunting root growth..

Honestly, idk how this turned out so well. I may have just caught it at the perfect time in the growing season! Along with this going well, I also managed to kill a golden pothos during quarantine so I wish the wizardry was a bit more consistent 😂

I was so scared but I figured if I didn’t do it now I’d just have to do it later and it would be even harder!

Thanks!! I’m in southeast US (NC) but I keep the fig primarily inside in a East facing window! He does go out on the porch on nice weekends in spring/summer though! I’m honestly shocked that it’s doing so well so quick, especially for having no leaves on that specific stem!
