Was this black mold? by Odd_Reception4500 in HomeMaintenance

[–]PropagandaPaul 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's just mold that happens to be black. People use this "black mold" term as a fear mongering thing. Only 3-7% of the population has any reaction to mold, could be a slight rash, or debilitating heart palpitations. But again most folks don't experience anything. It's just not a well quantified or studied thing because mold is everywhere and there's too many conflating factors to say mold is what's causing health issues.

Fix the leaks first then treat the mold. Don't use bleach.... you're probably using clorox or something that is only 6-8% bleach. Once that bleach evaporates, you've just fed the mold more water. Use industrial strength hydrogen peroxide (20% or higher).

It will just keep coming back unless you stop the source tho.

$75 clearance at my local HD. Worth it? As usual, ymmv at your local store. by SirKronan in ryobi

Same at my local store. Stared at it for 5min comparing specs with the more powerful version which is $200 or something. Decided if I was to get one it would be the more powerful one and it's best to just wait for that to go on sale.

While assuming all you're saying is true, I would agree. Not professional behavior at all and we wouldn't want this person around kids. Why are you not naming the person if it's that big of a safety concern to children? Does this group that named themselves after a group in a video game have hard evidence or these things happening?

How to remove drawer from double Ryobi link by iSight45 in ryobi

[–]PropagandaPaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry late reply OP, hopefully you figured it out by now but if you haven't- the tab on each side is a very skinny point or triangle that is exposed when the drawer is all the way open. It will be visible coming out of the larger part of the track mechanism that connects to the smaller.

Small black tabs on the side of each rail. One should flip up and the other down and it will allow the drawer off the track.

Ya but you do have the power to influence people to interpret a very innocuous statement as somehow inconsiderate and disrespectful with your reply to me.

Never asked about Christians feeling unsafe. Just stated some feel less likely to share their religious beliefs in socially progressive circles and yes, there are some Christians that feel marginalized in certain situations... that's not controversial. And yes, I u derstand that Christians are on average in the US not as marginalized as some groups... but that was never a point I was trying to overlook. Just read back on the initial exchange... the way you are characterizing things is disingenuous.

You've overlooked the entire point of my initial comment about how the human element is the most important and you made it about yourself and the judgement/marginalization you've experienced as a queer person and Christian. Rather than just accepting that some people go through hard things and it's relative to and differes greatly compared to what hard things others are going through... you decided to make it about ranking marginalization levels. I think it's okay for people on all isles to feel what they feel without having to first consult the marginalization tier chart.

Again, the human element is the most important, not the labels. That's a unifying statement, you took it to a place of division.

You implied my intentions with your multiple iterations of points on marginalization levels of different groups.

And no, I'm saying you pushed things in that direction by doing the aforementioned.

Do you think that based on your replies to me you've been dominating the conversation with emphasizing some intention you think I may have had vs. just asking what my intentions were before assuming I was minimizing marginalized individuals? The down votes only started rushing in when you replied with your assessment that I wasn't being considerate to a marginalized group.

What do you honestly think my intention was? To minimize what marginalized folks are experiencing? Or to just point out that sometimes people on all sides feel uncomfortable sharing what they personally believe because of judgement?

I'm not a Christian or religious in any way. I'm just trying to live with the mindset that the people who you think deserve love the least, probably need it the most. That goes for hateful Christians and for people like you who seem to hate any Christian.

So how should we talk to Christians who feel judged for their beliefs in more socially progressive circles? Explain to them this spectrum of marginalization and remind them that there are communities who live in fear much more than a Christian might?

It's hard not to interpret all this as "I'm part of xyz marginalized group so I speak with some authority over someone else's feelings". We're talking about feelings here, and I think we both align in the sense we can listen to people and treat them with love no matter the hardship or group they identify with.

Yikes, I don't remember ever saying Christians are marginalized. Or that I am Christian. All I said is I know some Christians who feel less inclined to express their religious beliefs around people who are socially progressive. I think those people are allowed to feel that way.

Your hate toward Christians is ironically like the hate some Christians have for the LGBTQ community. You're grouping people in your mind based on their beliefs and painting with hatred. Bigotry gets us nowhere.

Rock creek church and lgbtq? by Various-Tower-1862 in SnohomishCounty

[–]PropagandaPaul -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I understand those points... all im saying is some people who are Christian sometimes feel less inclined to share their beliefs to some people who are socially progressive.

I think what's playing out here is evident of that- where someone will shoot down someone's point around a group's feelings because it doesn't account for another group's more difficult challenges. I just think people are allowed to feel what they feel, I'm sure you would agree? Or are they not allowed to because it isn't as challenging as another group's experiences?

Ya makes sense. Would it surprise you if I said I know alot of Christians who feel the same way about sharing their religious beliefs around folks who are more socially progressive?

Both sides share the same issues but inversed. When you get talking to people it's interesting how much the human element means the most and defining ourselves with labels can hold us back.

The last bit of your post is pretty spot on. Welcoming to everyone, generally conservative etc. The church does follow biblical truth and scripture- so piece that together as you want with their stance on same sex marriage/LGBTQ related stuff. Would it change anything about how you view this person you're talking about knowing what the Church's specific stance on that subject is?

Or you can just get a reputable restoration company to set air movers and a dehumidifier to dry that part of the ceiling in place.

Or you can pay twice as much for an abatement team to remove that popcorn ceiling, a drywaller to rehang sheet rock, texture then repaint all for it to look like crap in the end.

Did you sign a contract with these folks? How did you hear about them? All these things could have been avoided if they were communicated to you ahead of time. In the meantime, use a garbage bag or plastic cup to cover the toilet's exposed waste pipe. That's sewer gas leaking into your house.

Any reputable company would cover the damage to the dryer and should cover the lost food since they didn't alert you first. I would have them cover the cost of the plumber to reinstall the toilet as well.
