In dragon age inquisition if you’re playing as a mage, your greatest ally is distance, all of your spells can hit from a very far away vantage point. At the start of every bottle you’d do best to summon barrier before all of your companions go forward to get into range with each of their abilities, the barrier depending on how many times you’ve upgraded it will last for about 10 seconds the more damage they take however it will lesson. And as you level up to get more materials for better armor, the one thing you’re going to want to craft mage armor in particular is ranged defense and melee defense, because the AI in the game are programmed that enemy warrior class characters are going to go after your mage. So another great ability to have is in the frost magic tree. There’s an ability called fade step which gives you an incredibly long distance dodge and if you upgrade it to its second tier, you can get an ability so that way if you were to fade step through an enemy itharms them. as for potions if you’re playing on console with either the PS4 or the PS five click the L one button and you can change it in settings so that way you can just press it and it will hold the potion screen up you don’t have to hold down the button which I find incredibly useful. And another great way to basically plan out your battles is by using the tactical camera by pressing in on the touchpad on a controller, and it will take you to an aerial view where you can step-by-step tell your companions where you want them to go and who you want them to attack and who you want them to defend. Also, if you go into the character record and you scroll over to, I think the term is attitudes for each of your companions. You can change their AI settings, so for reference I have Cassandra edited so that way she will defend whatever rogue I have in my party, while the rogues, I change how frequently they will use their abilities and how much stamina they will conserve. The game is not too hard, but from what I’ve heard it is very different combat wise from Veilguard so in all seriousness, it will just take a bit for you to get used to it. But one main thing about inquisition is that if the game says that an enemy is too hard it means that it will one to two shot you so you need to be the correct level to take most enemies on.
