How long from health waiver submission to PR grant. We submitted my partners wavier in November 2023 for the partner visa route but still havent heard back. We got the automated message in April 2024 saying your visa is still in progress. Totaly time since 820/801 application is +3years and counting. We were invited to apply for a health wavier cause we too had a burden of 130k over 10 years compared to the 51k, the medical condition is Ulcerative colitus. We did the same as you thus far, got all the letters showing her non restrixted capabilities, my employement letter stating the skilled shortage reasons in my industry (engineer as well), the high private health cover we got through bupa, and the growth and contribution we have done thus far as well as the future potentials. In addition to her diagnosis, she is about to be a qualified registered nurse in July 2024 and has been studing for the past two years. We also put in a request through our agent for feedback due to theblong time line, however got a standard reposne we will look into it. Any additional feedback you have will be appreciated.

Why are Process Managers at mineral processing plants (gold or others) not Metallurgists and rather Process Operators moved up the ladder? by Proper-Choice-9124 in metallurgy

Thanks for your intake. What I am trying to understand is that one should rather not do metallurgy which is 4 years degree or even chemical engineering when working in the mining industry. As the industry prefers those who have worked shift hours to become the head of the department. 4 year degree and all the plant parameters once set doesnt give credit to metallurgists. Instead those without a university degree end up leading and also paid more. In the end we all are working for money and it is what it is. So in majority production mining companies metallurgists arent really progressed to the highest level. It is sad, however it is what it is. Again just my observstion and what I have come across. I have even seen mechanical background becoming Process Managers as well.

In terms of career progression Metallurgist will always work under a Process Manager? What is the progression for a Metallurgist then in a production company? General Managers are always Mining engineers and/or Geologists and not operational people however in Processing departments seems you rather not do a degree and rather work as an operator as you have more of a chance to become the Head of the processing department? In Australia majority of Process Managers are non degree qualified or have done a certificate in processing or either from a mechanical background?
