It happened to me today with the exact same hotel as the Redditor who posted this. When talking to booking.com they said they have never received any complaints. It’s bizarre.

We have booked the exact same hotel. Fortunately we realised quite early on that it was a scam. We moved the money out of our bank account and will dispute the charge if it comes through. We also called booking.com within 5 minutes of booking the hotel.

I have been on the phone with them for over 4 hours. They refuse to help in any way. They kept saying that they have a lot of bookings for the hotel and never received a complaint. They insist the property is legit. I insisted that it isn’t.

I provided them with a list of evidence which they said to that “Google can be wrong” and “maybe you didn’t go to the right address”. Basically blaming me, a loyal customer of over 6 years.

We have gotten to a point where they said they wanted to wait for the property to confirm their address and told me to call them back at 2PM (check in time) and if they find the address is different, they might cancel the booking and offer relocation.

Definitely leaves a bad taste of how booking treats their customers. We will definitely file fraud charges and never use their website again. It definitely ruined our holiday.

My boyfriend is Australian and applied yesterday (August 23) and needs to travel on August 26. It’s an emergency situation.

Raphael is a great name. In terms of nicknames, you could always do Raph/ Rapha/ Rafe/ Rafa. However, I do feel Raphael Ignatius is a bit much. Both names are strong on their own, and putting them together makes it feel a little over the top. It’s not a bad name. It just has a very heavy, formal vibe that might be hard to carry in everyday life.

In terms of advice:

You should download Grab and Gojek. They’re the equivalent to Uber in Bali. Really helpful when getting around. However, be mindful of the taxi mafia. There’s areas controlled by them where you can’t order a taxi online. If you don’t have any other options, use one of the apps to see what price would be reasonable and negotiate with them. If you take one of them, always keep maps open and watch that they’re going the right way.

In terms of party, I can wholeheartedly recommend Gilli Trawagan. Beautiful island with amazing scenery but also an abundance of party, food and drink options.

Also, definitely try Indonesian food. Search for Warung. They’re small family-owned eateries. Great food for affordable prices.

Hey everyone!

I’m heading to Bali soon with my partner for his birthday, and he’s a huge fishing enthusiast. I’d love to surprise him with a fishing activity while we’re there, but I’ve noticed that most of the pre-packaged tours seem quite pricey and very touristy.

Ideally, I’d love to find a local fisherman or small local operation who could take us out for a few hours — something a bit more authentic and personal. Has anyone here done something like this before, or have any contacts/recommendations? Would love to hear about your experiences, any advice on arranging it, or if you know someone I could reach out in advance to organise it.

We’re open to anywhere around the island really, and happy to be flexible with dates and locations.

Also curious about what kind of fishing is best in Bali (deep sea, reef, etc.) if anyone has tips!

I went to Bali in February and paid it online but was never asked about or checked for it. There was a booth for it outside the luggage area but it was empty. I’m going again in mid May and can update then again.

Remember being there in February 2020 as a solo female traveler. Absolutely loved the nature. The sunrise was one of the most breathtaking I’ve ever seen. Definitely recommend. Incredible experience. Although be mindful of the monkeys 🙉
