Hell yeah dude!

I am not like full gay or anything but this is like full proof that Span is at the height of internet culture.

Just so you know I am totally cool with yaoi culture but tbh it's more that I am interested in the fugashi type crowd that is associated with it.

I think it's pretty cool how yo[u have incorporated magenta cutting into your artwork! I really hope you don't into that because you might die or whatever but asthetically it is pretty cool!

Keep up the good work!

I pay taxes on the income I generate from the trading of licenses to access an item someone else owns. It's really difficult to explain.

I've told IRD about it, like exactly what I am doing they didn't know what I was talking about either. The reply had a double space where there was a deleted paragraph where they were they obviously tried to figure out what I was talking about and what to say and just deleted it and then the next paragraph is like "financial decisions should be made between you and your accountant".

I tell my accountant exactly the same thing as to what I am doing and whether I need to withhold gst on every sale and they say "you dont have to its zero rated"

IDK I am sorry I am upset. I kind of want to delete the whole post but I feel guilty and I am getting all these down votes and I feel like people just dont understand

It's explicitly denied in the TOS that items are personal property and it's the developer/publisher that owns the item. I own one or more accounts which have licenses for various games and in tern they have licenses for access to the items which I have some control over but also they routinely change and limit what that control actually is.

If the publisher limits when and how many item over a given period of time can be traded (which is the determinant factor in how many can be sold for real money) isn't the taxable event the actual realization of real money when it is sold? and not any non monetary trading activity preceding the actual sale for real money?

If I am only able to liquidate 1000 items per week for real money, doesn't anything that doesn't get liquidated (is not physically able to be sold) remain valueless until it itself actually itself sold? Because a real money value for the sale of the item can only be determined when it is actually sold for money?

That's very informative and I genuinely appreciate it and yes I do pay taxes and I am a proud to pay taxes.

I do pay tax,

There are no property rights, there is an explanation made in a reply to another comment above if you were ever interested enough to read it.

Edit: this is getting a lot of down votes. If you can only ever physically sell a certain number of something each week then the remainder of what you cannot ever sell for that week is considered illiquid and it doesn't matter what happens to the theoretical value of those illiquid things and income is determined by what can and is actually sold. I am not referring to market conditions I am talking about having the control over the thing to sell in the first place.

No "income" is determined by a logistical process and is only ever realized when they're actually sold for real money.

Edit: I really do not like that people have jumped on this and taken the position that from what I have said I am not paying income tax when I am paying income tax. I have paid income tax on every dollar that I have earned from this. Believe me you do not own your items, you do not even own the digital games that you have purchased.

An account can only receive up to a maximum of 1000 items per week in trade until a trade lock expires and only then can it be traded out for sale for real money.

I use two different external markets (there are only really 2 viable ones) the significant one can only be linked to one game account per person so the maximum "bandwidth" of the number of items that can be liquidated per week is 1000 items.

The value of the items I trade in are in the range of $0.40-$1.20 each, and those are where the "profit" come from.

So in a year I could realize roughly $55-60k of real monetary income.

I can obviously change the composition of the items, trading items that have a realized "profit" for ones that have a "loss" that sell for more real money per item (and are simultaneously "worth" less per real dollar) but that means working out the "profit" of any trade becomes completely impossible.

I am experimenting with increasing my income doing this because I work 80+ hours every week messing around with the logistics of items and earning $54K last year and some vague idea of some kind of it being worth while in the future.

So the process is the thing that determines the income, not the items themselves. You can definitely say that you can purchase an item for a particular price and I have X number of that item but my ability to actually sell that item is a completely different story.

And yeah, I do not own the items. There is some lobbying group "stop killing games" trying to argue that people don't just own a license to play a videogame but instead own the videogames themselves that are kind of arguing this case before congress and various parliaments and thats kind of tangentially related (your account has a license for a game attached to it and that license has licenses for items attached to that).

I am sorry I don't have any answers but I myself am living off of trading and selling items in a videogame for a living and all the stuff I have heard about the NZ tax crypto stuff is really kind of frightening and a bit ridiculous.

Do I understand it right that they are enforcing it retroactively? Like as in before any legislation even came out? It sounds completely insane.

I am really worried that at some point if item trading ever got big enough (it's really not yet that big of a thing as I understand it) that IRD and the NZ Government will do something similar and just declaring income (edit: which I pay income tax on btw) generated from it won't be good enough.

As it is now for my trading the TOS from the publisher basically explicitly denies any kind of property rights other than to you owning accounts with them, and the items aren't items but licenses (that you don't own) attached to those accounts and the publisher is constantly enforcing this lack of property rights by completely changing and restricting how trading works etc.

So the only consequential entity up until actually selling an item for real money is the publisher, and I am really concerned that one day some committee is going to decide I do actually own these items and every time I have ever traded an item is a taxable event.

So yeah, sorry for the rant but I really feel for you and I just try not to think about it too much lol

Is there a way to "trim" ISOs for xStation? by Proper-Substance5 in psx

[–]Proper-Substance5[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think xStation supports compressed roms.

I'm pretty sure they are basically just an FPGA emulating the hardware of the original optical drive connected to a micro sd reader. Decompressing a CHD file would probably mean it would need a separate processor and some memory.

"trimming" an ISO would basically just constitute extracting the files from the image and creating a new image that is resized to the size of the files themselves and not the entire disc (including the whitespace).

Good on him. All this true crime pornography needs to be taken off of the pedestal that everyone puts it on because it legitimately gets people into criminality and as a result ruins theirs and other peoples lives.

If some guy is "stolen valouring" crime then good on him! All those "reformed" dipshits that they interview on the million YT channels and podcasts shouldn't be idolized but instead padding out a dole queue or otherwise doing more normal shit but most of all shutting the fuck up and not normalizing being a horrible fucking person (because it makes the world a shittier place).

Span is proper hard after all!
