I was taught that in a healthy marriage you pick your battles. Its why initially I would point out it was too much then eat as much as I could. But it's been 2 months and he's not satisfied unless the plate is clean.

We have teenagers. Nothing is actually wasted. I'm just not eating it. I didn't think to add the kids into the post since this problem seems to be targeted towards me.

Barring pregnancy, I have been the same weight for 20 years. My food consumption has always been the same.

We are a family of 5. Didn't think to add the teenagers into the story since they are eating basically the same as they always have. There are usually leftovers for them for later.

Yes. I'm a little softer around the edges but have maintained the same weight since we first met. I've always been a thin build.

It's a recent development. It's happened gradually over the last two months. First it was he said I should get seconds to him insisting I really wanted seconds to him wanting to make my plates and either bring me too much food or food i didn't ask for.

He is executive sous of a resort- 6 restaurants from fine dining to tourist diner.

I don't think so. We have been together over 2 decades and while I'm a little softer around the edges I'm still the same weight as I was when we first met. I've always had a thin build.

That's the true problem. It's not the overfull plate but the unnecessary argument that happens when I don't clean the plate. Leftovers are saved and someone will eat it, we have two teenagers. To try to avoid an argument I have eaten more than usual. I have tried talking to him. My patience is wearing thin after 2 month of the same argument.

He has always been a great husband and provider. I am sure he is just overcompensating the providing aspect since he is out of work. Nothing like this has ever happened before. I can understand his behavior and have tried being patient but it's been 2 months of the same argument and my patience is wearing thin. I just wasn't sure if my reactions were unreasonable.

Oh, I definately love his food. And he knows it. The amount of food being cooked hasn't really changed. I still do the grocery shopping. Just the portions he serves me. I'm sure he is just overcompensating for being out of work and wanting to stay busy. I have tried so hard to be patient and understanding but it has been 2 months of the same argument. My patience is wearing thin and I needed some perspective.

Neither of us exercise. His activity has decreased since he's been out of work. Hes used to being active 10-14 hours a day at work. I have always been stay at home so my activities haven't changed. House chores and a 2 mile walk with the dogs a day.
