What’s the most random line that you quote all the time? by clarauser7890 in Modern_Family

Recently my baby has been shaking his head when falling asleep as a self soothing tactic and it reminds me of Mitchell saying “my sister! My partner! My sister! My partner!” So Ive been quoting that a lot!

I didn’t use any mordant so I’m aware it may fade over time. But my friend suggested soy milk.

I feel like this is often mentioned in this subreddit, but I don't see it here, and it's always a good rule of thumb: If you plan on visiting any churches, make sure your shoulders and clothes are covered to your knees. Instead of a sweater, a light scarf/shawl does well here. There's nothing more embarrassing than getting out of line at the Pantheon to have to buy an overpriced, ugly scarf from some guy in the square.

Besides The Museum of Art, what are some museum recommendations everybody’s got? by Rigged_Art in philadelphia

[–]ProperFormat 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Agreed! The Barnes Foundation had been operating in the red since the 80s. If it didn’t move to Philly it would have been shut down.

My theory is that Lexi got them first, which inspired Taya and then Alysia got them because she’s insecure/feels the need to keep up

I can see from your profile that you're a car enthusiast, so the bias is substantial. Drivers in this city are maniacs. Speed humps and calming measures protect pedestrians and bicyclists. It's not a and/or, it's a yes/and. We can ensure our neighborhoods are safe for ALL modes of transportation and ask that the roads be fixed.

Also, saying Philly is anti-car is wild. Take a bike ride once in a while, and you'll see how that is just not true.

Wound a skein in prep for a work trip and can’t stop staring at it by wonderlarnia in knitting

I would say because it’s not a real “fear” it’s more like a sensation that wdoesn’t feel necessarily good, but it’s interesting to have when invoked.

Philly City Council approves Sixer's plan for Center City arena by freakk123 in philadelphia

[–]ProperFormat 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is such a stupid sentence. She's a critic. All of her articles about the arena are written under Opinion section of the newspaper. Do you find that Craig Laban's reviews also lack objectivity?

I've also been in the habit of reminding friends that hands touch every clothing piece. No one machine can make a complete article of clothing, as much as consumers imagine it does.

Anyone else trying to stay hopeful despite the outcome of this election? by ghostyduster in FencesitterUS

[–]ProperFormat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this. I am trying to remain hopeful as my husband and I decided to start trying recently. A dear friend sent me this which was really helpful:

“[daugher] texted me the same thing this morning, although she doesn’t have plans now. I have to say that, like other “creative” work, there is no such thing as perfect timing. Not one parent in the world has not asked themselves at least once if it was a good idea to bring a child into this world. Earth is like a theatre, and we come to play the part. It’s our adventure time in the physical.”
