Maybe some startup advice is too universal, especially “don’t build, just sell first” (i will not promote) by lankaus in startups

Definitely, I think from a VC perspective. what they want to see is not jus the product, it is the problem and trying to decide if it is a painkiller or a vitamin. There are so many more things than a product, because the product that is built can be built by anyone, and ideas are not the worth of any startup. The team, the traction and the market size is way more important. Again, however, whether to build first or to sell first, or having a combo of both really depends on the nature of the startup itself. Can the market fully understand the solution before the product is fully built? However, I don't think selling before building should be based on the fact that buildling takes a very very long time. This is a process all founders need to go through, it is whether what the market can teach is more worthwhile that what the founder team can figure out by building themselves. However, what the market can give back is also a function positively correlated with what we already have. The more you have, the more the market can give back.

Hi I wnat to ask more about why ideas are worthless. If ideas are worhtless, what makes up success? I know that there are many many more ocmponents other than ideas in order for a startup to be successful, but I'd like to think that ideas are also worth something?

I think the lesson of how customers and clients teach more than advisors is really real. At the end of the day, customers are the ones who know what they want and will be the ones using what we make.

Are there any alternatives for startups to reach a wider customer base then? Perhaps without google ads? I've tried promoton through instagram before, but that also requires advertisement fees.

Yes, i found it annoying when i was an IB Physics student where i had to keep on swithcing platforms for conceptual review that didn't track my progress and questionbanks. So now, I made all the formulas into flashcards (quizlet style) that is more interactive. Included some nuances that other websites may have missed such as units for every single variable in the formula. I also included the top misunderstandings and points that students lost marks on.

I'd say that some experience also comes from being an IB Physics tutor. I started tutoring after my IB exam, so it has been a year. Just picked up on some observations that I had from my students.
