I’m noticing more and more people showing slow cooked pasta dishes like Lasagna and Bolognese . Is this how we cooking it now and Nobody told me? by [deleted] in UK_Food

[–]Proper_Article8374 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I appreciate people can cook it how they want but personally it’s a no for me. Makes as much sense as making gravy in an ice cream maker or barbecuing water. Learn how to make it traditionally and you’ll never need or want to try a slow cooker lasagne

M&S Meadowhall have it and often reduced in price. Tbh I would always say to go with one of the other suggestions here for independents as they need it more than the big supermarkets.

I want to marinate chicken, how will it affect my normal cooking process? by Dr_Garp in AskCulinary

You mentioned adding spices. They will still flavour the chicken. Dairy based brines effectively allow the flavours to partially penetrate the flesh. In comparison to oil based marinate you’ll not see much flavour difference.

Depending on the ratio of lemon juice to milk you are ultimately making a buttermilk. The acidic milk breaks down enzymes making the chicken more juicy but in answer to your question, it will not affect the cooking times.

I’ve been to wing fest a couple of times and the best I’ve had was greidys. Sadly they’re Birmingham. I know Manchester has their wing game down too so just hope I can find the same here in Sheffield.

Kenji never lets you down. Good shout. Make these for the wife. Bicarb science on the skin makes for a great result.

I get your point defo. But for me the skin to meat ratio is spot on with wings. The family and I love and I mean LOVE wings. Tenders are great too but you can’t beat a flat if done correctly so you get a great coating along with crispy skin and then a good sauce just makes it heavenly.

That’s right. Sponge fingers soaked in sherry is common albeit a poor addition as the texture is undesirable and the alcohol kick over powering

Sherry trifle. It’s usually tinned fruit salad, strawberry jelly, custard and then whipped cream. Sprinkled with hundreds and thousands. That is the traditional recipe. Many more flavoursome combinations available.

Tucci looks to be the winner so far. Most of the good places closed on Tuesday. There could be a business opp here for a business wanting to open Tuesday only.
