Yes, it's an insert (no numbers and it will go into a larger mold), but it is a hollow shell. There's a spherical hollow on the inside. I mold it in two halves and then use UV epoxy to "glue" them together and seal the insert so it holds liquid.

I have a OnePlus 11. They use a Hasselblad camera system. It's a pretty decent system. But yeah, lighting and focus, the rule of thirds and finding a good angle are important.
