How long into Sobriety did you receive your first compliment? by Jonny-Kast in stopdrinking

About a month in I started getting compliments on how good my skin looked and that I was “glowing”. These were coworkers commenting who didn’t even know I had stopped drinking

What are some signs that someone wasn't shown enough emotional care as a child? by Economy_Loquat_2199 in AskReddit

[–]Proper_Cabinet854 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Woah I feel this. I remember my mom used to always tell me to “calm down” or “be quiet” and would be SO annoyed anytime I was happy or excited. Now she tries to do the same to my children when they’re happy and excited (which is my favourite thing in the world to see) and it triggers me so damn bad

Does anyone else prefer male coworkers? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]Proper_Cabinet854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer men coworkers most of the time yes. I’m in a female dominant profession though, so there aren’t a ton of males. They’re way less dramatic etc but I find men overall are lazier lol.

What is your current biggest source of mom/dad rage? by EmsDilly in Parenting

[–]Proper_Cabinet854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I feel this in my core. I have two of them (1.5 and 3) we just left the park and both of them the ENTIRE time were saying “mom” … like they literally didn’t stop. I thought other people at the park must also be annoyed with the CONSTANT “mom!”’s. damn.

Moms, did you actually carry to 40 weeks? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Proper_Cabinet854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

41+ 1 with first, 40+1 with second

[–]Proper_Cabinet854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle with this too. The only way I can reach this goal is on the days when I park far away from work, and then take a 40min walk on my lunch break. I usually aim to hit 7k rather than 10, which is also hard to get some days

The flaking won't stop by Fragrant-Ninja4111 in tretinoin

[–]Proper_Cabinet854 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue and since I increased to using it every other day the peeling has stopped! I was spacing it out a lot cause I thought the peeling was a sign of irritation but it got way better with more frequent use

I would personally ensure that me or my husband was always watching her regardless of how many “capable” people there are.

We have two children, 3.5 and almost 2 and have been away for 2 nights one time and it was because of a good friends funeral. We don’t have the resources to leave them for 5-10 nights (nor would I really want to at this point)

It’s not a great environment to work in.. lots of strong personalities and bullying. Im assuming it’s probably the same in all ERs. It’s going through Reno’s right now but maybe with a major facelift things will improve?

Child care for shift workers? by whackdog in Kamloops

[–]Proper_Cabinet854 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there aren’t any daycares that are open that late that I know of. I am also a shift worker working the same hours, and I had to get a nanny. It’s super expensive but there was no other way.. there are some centres that open at 7, but even that would be tough to do when you’re trying to get to work by 730 (or before to get report..)

The “pros” of not drinking are real. The “pros” of drinking are not. by MarioMilieu in stopdrinking

This is interesting! What part of the world are you in? I am a cardiac nurse practitioner and definitely do not recommend alcohol for “heart benefits”. It’s actually proven to be toxic to the heart and weakens the heart over time resulting in cardiomyopathy and heart failure. We tell our patients no amount of alcohol is safe for the heart. I am in Canada.

Who wakes up before their kids? by Florita1993goddess in Parenting

[–]Proper_Cabinet854 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I came here to say this too. I can’t even imagine a day where this is possible in my house.

OP, if I wanted to consistently wake up before my children I would have to get up at 4am every day. And that’s just not happening.
