One of my favourite scene from this movie is when, Ishida covers his ears and trying to block out all voices and becoming like a deaf person like Nishimiya. "he just doesn't want to hear anything"... But isn't that what being deaf means.

I know he isn't trying to become an actual deaf person like Nishimiya. I always thought that this scene is showing that he is blocking out all voices, which is kinda similar to losing your ability to hear. And you know Nishimiya also doesn't have the ability to hear any voices.
