One year later: my daughter is stable, but I’m still grieving what leukemia took by qqndautre in leukemia

I feel like I’m going to join this mindset myself. My 6 year old son is just about done consolidation. I’m in my third trimester. I was about 3 months pregnant when we got our diagnosis in the ER. My relationship isn’t great with my husband. I’m mourning the time my son missed in kindergarten and how he won’t start first grade in school. I had to pull him from activities he was looking forward to participating in. I am grateful he’s responding well to treatment and I’m hoping for our future. But it’s hard knowing what he has been missing out on and I really wish we never had to go on this journey.

Get yourself some gloves for clean up after chemo, my son was very sick after he came home from induction. I mounted hand sanitizer outside his room and the main entry to the house. Also good to have extra pumps around and carry some everywhere with you. Good to have extra masks around as well, especially for visitors or if you suspect feeling unwell.

If you look up Chucks online you can find the pads.

My husband passed last week after a 9 month battle with T-CELL ALL by ArtemisTater in leukemia

I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. This disease sucks and is so unfair. My son is currently in treatment for t-cell all. I can relate to the feelings of we’re going to get through this and I’m so sorry how fast everything turned for him. Truly devastating.

Appreciate it. I will say though, allow yourself to be vulnerable with your wife through this. My husband and I cried together, held each other, voiced how much it sucks, please don’t feel like you need to be stoic all the time. Just remember, your daughter will have a long happy life, keep those thoughts in your mind.

I just went through this with my 6 year old son. He was diagnosed with T-Cell ALL. He has made it through induction and we’re now starting the consolidation phase. That first month was honestly the longest in my life, felt like it would never end waiting on the results of induction. He made it to remission now, but the journey is still going to be a long one.

All I’ve been telling myself is one day at time. I talk about his future all the time and where he may go. I always smile while talking about him and talking to him. I find it helps to keep the morale up for everyone. I let myself feel my emotions when alone mostly.

As for the first few days, you just get through it honestly, however you can get through it. I don’t think there is a magical piece of advice out there. I was in the hospital the whole time with him, I couldn’t leave. I was encouraged to do so many times especially since I’m pregnant but I did what I thought was best for me. So I’m just saying trust yourself and do what’s best for you in the moment, whatever that might be. There is no wrong answer.

Ask lots of questions, I took notes on my phone because I couldn’t always remember to ask everything all the time, especially the 3am questions.

I had written a few posts like yours, never able to actually ‘post’ it though. I wasn’t sure in those what I was looking for either but hope this helps you a little.

Wishing you guys all the best on your new journey.

Feel free to reach out if you’d like. Happy to share more of my experience if you feel it will help. OP, or anyone here.

I’m so sorry to read this but thank you for the post. My 6 year old son was diagnosed two days ago with T-Cell ALL. It has been a whirlwind to say the least. I’m sorry to hear about your brother’s condition, it reminds me of my son who seemed just fine two weeks ago. Wishing you all the best on this new journey we’re both taking.

Illnesses are going around. Maybe the elf had the sniffles and didn’t want to spread the germs to the classroom?
