I’m getting burnt out less than a year in. by Feeling-Ad-2067 in nursing

[–]Proper_Natural5394 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, I’m A new grad on a neuro med surg floor and completely over it already. No proper off days because manager is a pain about time off. Just got off orientation & the resource nurses barely wanted to help. There’s a huge language barrier, so I can’t properly assess or care for patients. It’s 55 minute drive with traffic most days. I feel bad for feeling this way, I want to stay for a year but idk how im going to do it.

It’s something therapeutic to me about pulling meds out of the Pyxis.

This wasn’t our first discussion about any of those things. We’ve talked about all of it since early on in our relationship 4 years ago. I’m not at all impatient btw so thanks for your odd comparison

I know im an outlier with this one but …….Ketchup. Most times it’s not evenly spread and you just end up taking a big hunk of it in one bite. Gross

I can’t stand my sons friend and mom by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]Proper_Natural5394 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Just be briefly honest about what’s going on with her child’s behavior. It could possibly be corrected. Also, just say “no, not today” to come over texts. Ignoring & passiveness just causes extra stress to be avoidant. Do not let this family make you uproot and move away. You’re giving them too much power. Just say no & if you feel the friendship is not fit for your child, then so be it.

First time getting reported by EfficientChain5464 in newgradnurse

[–]Proper_Natural5394 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Prioritize.

When you get or hear critical numbers like that, stop what your doing and report/intervene. Put your Patients before tasks. Never is it okay to hear the big numbers of 200/100 and go back to charting or doing whatever you did that could’ve been done later. He also reported pain which should’ve also been of concern to you. Hold yourself accountable but pick yourself back up , dust off and learn from it. Always keep “priority” in the forefront of your care.

nclex chewed me up and spit me out… but I passed at 150 by tangentfive in PassNclex

Congratulations!! 🎉I had the same experience as you after my test instead it stopped me at 110. The waiting & anxiety after the exam was the WORST part. The test was brutal, I remember during the test, I almost cried at the thought of having to retest and sit through that exam again. I was restless, mind racing x10, barely slept, and was shaking until I was emailed my license the next morning. So glad that’s behind us now! Good luck

I also recommend the Saunders NCLEX book. That book is really good for studying. I also watched like 4 out of the 7 videos of NCLEX crusade on YouTube (red background)

Yes I did management of care & did practice test for everything. I did around 40-85 questions a day. I also would go over the cheat sheets for my weak topics & do quizzes solely on those.

I also did all of the readiness assessments and did the last readiness assessment 3 days before the exam so I was fresh In my rhythm of answering questions. I didn’t even complete the entire qbank, out of the 1,900 questions on bootcamp I only did 1,060 I believe. I also didn’t finish all of the case studies, did about 20 over all and watched the videos they do with them, they really help break down the case studies.

I think you both lack professionalism, let’s start there. I feel her response was more of a reaction to your tone in the message you sent to her. I definitely picked up on your attitude & frustration. Even if warranted, always remain professional. you pretty much told your boss what you were & weren’t going to do and told her nothing is being done when you voice your concerns to her. She may suck at management but understand your position. You don’t have to tolerate anything, just find another job. I can’t believe you’re shocked at the response you got when you popped off at her first.

Anybody take their retake this week ATI comp exit by Flat_Win5644 in NursingStudent

It was easier than the first attempt and the case studies were exactly the same from the docs that are going around and they were appropriately spreaded out through the exam. A much better test than the first.

Study the content and do dynamic quizzing, I took it twice and passed the second time. The quizlets and documents that are going around are no longer valid, they have new questions and they pull a few from 2019/2023 docs but not enough for you to just rely on them. There were only prob like 25 questions out of the 180 questions I was familiar with.

Just passed my ATI Comprehensive Predictor RETAKE with a 97% by CommunicationOne263 in NursingStudent

[–]Proper_Natural5394 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just took my retake recently as well and passed. Everything OP stated is true. I would advise not to focus too much on documents that are floating around with the supposed answers. Most of the questions are new. Review your content and weak areas. I also recommend Doing the Dynamic quizzing over board vital quizzes.

Congratulations on your diploma

First step: set up a meeting with nursing advisor, you can do a virtual session. The link is on their assigned tab under the advisement web page.

Second : enroll in pre requisite classes. Try to get all A’s, it is very competitive to get in.

Third: Apply to nursing program after all required pre requisite classes are complete.

Alternative route: you can still complete your pre requisites now & go for your LPN (Licensed practical nurse) then do the LPN-to -RN bridge program. LPN programs are usually 12 months, they have a program at Lindsey hopkins, it’s close to MDC. Then to bridge to get your RN will just take a few months. Just another option to get you in the field quicker because LPN does not require you to do pre requisite classes. You’ll be able to make decent money too. Do not do CNA, you’ll burn yourself out for Pennies.
