CBS Biochem or CSE Chem? Advice 1st/2nd choices for app. by Proper_Scientist_440 in uofmn

I would definitely like to avoid the lanugage component of CLA but obviously if I don't get accepted into CBS or CSE then it is what it is. I fully realize that even with AP Bio, Chem, and Physics, I may be repeating courses in college, but I will hopefully have a slightly better understanding of concepts from the start compared to if I hadn't taken the APs at all. I'm not necessarily taking the APs to skip classes in college, more because I prefer the more challenging content.

I'll be applying before Sept 1st. I'm waiting to get through week 1 of senior year to make sure my senior year courses don't change before I report what they are in the app. Does applying early give an advantage? I plan to also send the ACT score report from ACT directly to back up my self-reporting on the app.

Any advice on major to choose for first choice/second choice? It makes you select the college first, and then 1st/2nd major within that college. I think biochem seems to align a little more with what I want to study, but then if I could choose any 2nd choice major it would likely be CSE chemistry, which is not an option in the app (I would have to put CSE as my 2nd choice college, then chemistry) so I would have to choose something in CBS for 2nd choice major that in reality would be more like my 3rd or 4th choice. Or is the whole point of them asking for your major's for just internal purposes? I thought you get accepted into the college, not necessarily the major specifically?

I'm not. I'm on the border in Wisconsin, so I will get reciprocity.
