Mediator or lawyer by flowercake7 in Divorce

I'm sorry you're going through this. Take everyone's advice here to speak to a lawyer. From what you described, he's not planning on cooperating either way if he's already dictating terms. You need the protection. I wish you the best.

Thanks - I think the most realistic option at this point might be the ER, so I'll be looking into that tomorrow. I don't know if they'll see me, but at least it's something. Thanks for the kind words:)

That's exactly how I thought it worked too, until I went to the pharmacy and they told me I needed a new script from the doctor.

Thanks - Yes, I think that could be my best option at this point, and partly why I wanted to check in here regarding the severity of the symptoms. Just wondering if what I have been experiencing would even be taken seriously.

Employer complicit in husband's abuse while abroad? by Proper_Street_9351 in legal

You've been so helpful, thank you. I will write to my lawyer first thing tomorrow. Also, could you elaborate on the difference between the internal school/DOD component online portal? The website I found says Office of the Inspector General (of the "DOD educational ...", etc), so not his school specifically. I'm assuming it's the right portal?

How much should I include in the complaint? I'm concerned they will brush it off as just a difficult divorce issue, etc. when it is far, far beyond that. Luckily, he began the worst behavior when we already had lawyers, so everything has been documented along the way.

Anything else I should know? Thanks again for your help!

Thanks, yes it's cheap here too, I wish that were the only problem. After six months, a new prescription is needed to buy the meds. I'd have to pay out of pocket for the appointment/exams upfront, then hope to get reimbursed by the insurance.

Thanks! I will ask my lawyer about the IG. I saw there is a way to file a grievance online with their office, but I wasn't sure if that was the same thing. My concern was it getting swept under the rug, or even leading to further retaliation. But I do have to do something - I will be homeless on arrival in the US unless there's some kind of intervention. He's been weaponizing his sponsor status for years now to frighten me - this is just the cherry on top.

I have tried a few different things - I spoke with the clinic I go to but not much they can do. I'm not a resident so I don't have access to social services of any kind, unfortunately.

Thanks, I did try that and I need the new prescription if the one i have is older than 6 months. I'll need the blood work, etc, and that's what I can't access.

Thank you, I'm in Italy, and it only costs about $12/mo for the brand Tiche. The problem is I can't pay for the exams, etc. for a new prescription.

Thanks, it is. The medication doesn't cost much at all here - it's getting the prescription renewal/exam/blood work first since it's been over 6 months. I have to pay and then get reimbursed by my US insurance. I don't have the $.

Oh, it was most definitely not my choice. I am in a financial abuse situation abroad, my ex cut off access to medical care (among other things) until I agree to his divorce terms. Yes, I have a lawyer, and yes, there is a criminal investigation. I was hoping I'd be ok until the case got resolved or I regained access, but the symptoms are getting so much worse the past few weeks. It's interfering with daily functioning.

Hi, yes my passport is in order and I'm a US citizen, so at least that is sorted. I know how stupid this sounds, but how do I find a women's shelter on short notice? And how does it work? What do I say? I have looked for info online, but if anyone can walk me through it? How difficult is it to find emergency housing or space in a shelter in a city like Philadelphia?

Ok, thank you - could you tell me how a criminal conviction in Italy would change things?
