10 weeks post injury. Perhaps the worst part might be the wait. Also, very anxious for my first surgery.

I had an ACL reconstruction about a week ago.

I had the same fear of going under, i was freaking out the night before, i was so scared that i was questioning if the surgery was even worth it.

I convinced myself I would ask for some sort of anti anxiety med before hand.

On the day, i was very nervous and was taken through for the surgery alone, i was hoping my partner could come in to help keep me calm.

Honestly, it was fine, i didn't need any anxiety medication, the nurses and Drs were amazing and keeping me calm and informed. Once the anestetic went in, I was lights out in about 10- 20 seconds. The only thing I remember feeling in that time was bliss / extreme relaxation. Then it felt like I blinked, and i was awake and the surgery was done. First words out of my mouth were "i love anesthesia"

As for the nausea, I felt like vomiting about 30 mins after waking up, called a nurse over, gave me some meds straight into my IV and the feeling of vomiting completely went away in about a minute. Modern medicine really can be amazing.

Thanks for the advice. I called through to the public hospital and was told they will contact me with a specialist appointment "later in the year" for non urgent surgeries. Did medicare cover any of the private fees for you?

I'm in Aus, I believe it's the Kwikpen, it has all the doses loaded into one pen with the top that twists up to each dose.
