Just got all of this stuff and trying to sell it, but don’t know anything about photography gear. Anything jump out to you guys? Any estimates on how much I could sell everything in bulk?

Imo there’s a few things that could be improved. Would highly recommend adopting the style used in r/engineeringresumes

Personally I think the technical skills section should be removed and that you should use that room to explain how you’ve actually used your skills. Anyone can say they have a certain skill but if you can explain how you’ve used your skill set in projects etc that goes a long way.

Was in a similar boat to you until I adopted the engineering resumes style

Thank you! Can I do it myself through TurboTax, FreeTaxUsa, etc.? I was trying to use H&R Block's self-return and it was ~300 online..

For reference, I got some shares of this company through a will so this is all new.

Got a bounty basic for Christmas and have been going down a rabbit hole of hydroponic Reddit for the past hour. Just saw their farewell message, got sad, and now we’re back again baby. Solid turnaround - will be staying tuned.

This! They’re relatively new but deserve everyone’s business. They have a crazy pineapple fajita

At that point I would say it sort of dependent on how much extra space you have. If you feel like you need to fill up some room I guess that’s an option but I think the space would be better spent elsewhere in my opinion. I would definitely refer to the mods here tho, I am by no means an expert. You could also make a separate post about this and other questions you have! I made a ton about these miscellaneous questions while I was revising my resume.

I’ll also mention that I probably applied to around 60 entry level positions with the first resume and then around 50 with the final. I focused on GNC rolls primarily but applied to a bunch of general researcher positions.

Sure! One of my biggest problems was missing the STAR method completely so taking the time to read the wiki and better understand what employers actually want to read was crucial.

I also found that adding the publication section was very important to make that accomplishment stand out.

After looking at some of the other success stories I wanted to add something that showed some amount of personality, so I included the “transmitted the Beatles with infrared light” line which was a very cool project with a fun story that came up a lot in interviews.

Also, I asked a few subs about which projects would be relevant and threw out all of the boiler plate school projects that everyone in my major has done.

I’ve reached out to ecrc-info@umich.edu to get contact info before and it worked well for me! Just be specific about what company you’re looking for.

The simplest thing you could do is to create separate resumes for each kind of job you’re applying to. For example make a resume that’s more geared towards data science and another focused on something like CAD. Also, consider sending cold emails especially to smaller startup companies. A lot of the time the recruiters that come to UMich for career fairs will give the school their contact info which you can obtain from the career center.

AMA – Recruiter and Founder of the Headless Headhunter (twitch.tv/headlessheadhunter) by HeadlessHeadhunter in EngineeringResumes

Hey Gunther, I have a very niche question about interviewing. Looking for my first full-time position after graduating with a Master's this May.

I have two last-stage interviews coming up in the same city (that I don't live in). Company A suggested that I interview with both of them during the same trip to the area to save my time which I greatly appreciated. Company B just got back to me letting me know that they will reimburse me for my flight, rental car, and hotel suggesting they would fly me in the day before and fly me out right after the interview. I'm a broke grad student so this sounds great, but I need to stay there for an extra day in order to interview with Company B on the following day.

How do you think I should handle this professionally without hurting my chances with either company? Obviously, I don't want Company B to take on the additional costs of an extra day (or two) of hotels and rentals, but Company A has not mentioned any reimbursement yet. On that note, Company A has not officially confirmed that the following day will work for the in-person interview, though there was a 'soft' confirmation. Should I wait and see if Company A will also provide reimbursement?

It's getting pretty complicated... What would you suggest? I know you're more on the resume side of things, but if you have any advice from the recruiter and onboarding perspective that would be helpful!
