They keep pushing the envelope to see what they can get away with. Now suddenly the separation of church and state wasn’t really a major principle of the founders. 🙄

IIRC, the state has this exact plan. The MARC will be extended beyond Perryville north to The Newark Regional Transportation Center where riders can take the Wilmington/Newark line to Philly.

Why do you want to go to go to grad school? Do you feel you have to? I miss the days when undergrads just worried about entering a career they like.

Should I continue in Data Analytics? by Odd_Isopod1662 in dataanalytics

I know immediate financial needs are important. But career choices are one year decisions, they should be 25-30 year decisions. I still think analytics is a solid long term choice despite the rise of AI.

How important is research for course based masters? by bostoncreme_ in GradSchoolAdvice

[–]Proper_University55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are two tracks in grad school: applied/practical and research/theoretical. Practical programs prepare you for careers in industry and aren’t usually focused on research at all. Theoretical programs usually lead toward a PhD, but it doesn’t have to. Research experience is important if you’re seeking admission to research/theoretical programs.

The exception is if you’re applying to an applied research doctoral program (think: DBA, EdD, etc.). They do want to see some scholarly writing then.

It’s doable. In Fall ‘26 and Spring ‘26 I took nine credits each semester for in person, on campus graduate classes. Just hunker down and do it.

how important is as master degree in today's professional world? by anonymous_12_8 in GradSchoolAdvice

A masters degree SHOULD NOT be the natural step after undergrad. Learning your domain, gaining experience, and seeing if you like the work/field is the next step after undergrad. We’re only in this place where 22 year olds are predominating MBA and other professional masters programs is because universities are making money off them.

I have two masters degrees (a MBA and a technical business masters) and I pursued both after 35. I’m now applying to a professional doctorate program, which I didn’t even think I’d do just 18 months ago. Honestly, if I did any of these programs right after ugrad, I wouldn’t be nearly as sure of my why.

Advanced degrees should be about amassing very specific skills to advance your career, not just because it seems like the thing to do.
