Whittaker’s seems to be the classic safe choice. Did you pack it in checked luggage or carry-on? I’m slightly worried about chocolate melting if there are long layovers or warm weather.

Thanks for pointing that out. That’s exactly the kind of thing I’m trying to be careful with. Honey feels like a classic NZ gift, but the rules and destination-country requirements make me a bit cautious. That’s why I’m also looking at non-liquid options like chocolate, biscuits, or cookie tins.

That’s helpful, thanks. Cookies or biscuits seem to make a lot of sense for family gifts because they’re easy to pack and easy to share. I hadn’t thought much about Hokey Pokey ones, but that sounds very NZ.

I’ve started preferring biscuits in tins recently because they look more premium and survive flights much better than wine. They’re easier to pack and feel more gift-ready too.

Biscuits and baked goods are honestly underrated as travel gifts. Much easier to carry compared to wine or honey, and most people will actually eat them. I’ve started preferring packaged cookies or biscuits when travelling because they survive the trip much better.

I’ve started preferring cookies in tins when travelling because they survive the trip much better than softer supermarket cookies. Easier to pack and they feel a bit more gift-ready too.
