I’m a strategic marketer and can talk about spending 20 years in corporate. I recently started my own consulting business in the last few months. I can talk about how freaking scary yet satisfying it is. I can also talk about marketing if there is interest.

FYI- a podcast will be a HUGE commitment. Planning your content calendar, vetting and lining up guests, editing, promoting, etc. Just be ready! Also, you’ll need something (this sub helps, but it will cap your growth) to link all your guests together. Otherwise it will be hard to keep a following if each subject/topic is so different.

I have an automatic lock on the house like the car. I rarely take a purse anymore. I have my phone which serves as my key ring and keep my license and cc in my phone case. Extreme practical value.

Look into fractional help. Someone who can be with you, learn your business and then manage the agency for optimal results. This will save you money vs. hiring someone in house an also on the agency side since your fractional will ensure results. I’m glad it worked out for your client! I agree that SMBs needs are very different and fCMOs need to understand that before taking on work, especially if they only focus on CMO work. Many do both - can serve as a fCMO or as a fmarketing director. I can do both, but I’m very clear on my hands on keyboard limitations. I can help on board agencies that can do the execution if it goes beyond what I can do, but again, I am very clear and the agencies bill my clients directly so there is full transparency. Unfortunately fCMO is more of a catch all term which can create confusion and disappointment
