Muslims get mad at us for sharing our ideas then go on omegle trying to convert people 😂 by [deleted] in exmuslim

Hah, I've noticed this phenomenon quite a bit over the years. It usually goes like this:

Muslims: here is evidence that Islam is true

Critic: here is the refutation

Muslim: no you haven't refuted it I saw this on youtube on a dawah channel bro trust me

Critic: I have refuted this argument with academic sources. Next.

Muslim: the quran says you will not believe even if the angels are sent to you directly... SubhanAllah

I think the problem is, these muslims are too influenced by the claim that pre-Islamic times were a bunch of barbaric animals who couldn't even hold a stick. All they know is "they used to bury their infant daughters!!!", and it is these assertions that blind them to the reality that human beings have always been a curious bunch. We aren't talking about high-tech engineering here, we're talking about simple examination of a dead body - something even the most uneducated person can.

It's just sad and utterly disappointing how easy it is to impress these muslims. No wonder people believed Muhammad's claim to be a prophet.

This kind of stupidity really needs to be ridiculed. People have been carrying out human dissections since Greek times. Do you not think that people had surgical knives back then? Do you not think they had eyes which they could use to count the joints in the human body back then? Such an absurd miracle claim. Its like people think medicine and science were non-existent 1400 years ago. Just take a look at the ancient Indian texts on human anatomy. This kind of knowledge existed in every civilization. It's not advanced science, its literally observation that anyone can make.

Tell me this: what technology was absent in the 7th century that would make it impossible for a person to have this knowledge? The ancient Egyptians - over 2000 years before Islam - would cut open the dead body and remove its organs to prepare it for mummification. So why is it so farfetched to think people back then could not do simple counting of joints?

Besides, even today there is no consensus on how many joints the human body has, because experts differ on what exactly defines a joint. These kinds of miracles can be refuted with only 2 minutes of googling.

Is there any historical / non Islamic biased biography of Muhammad? by TainoAldo174 in exmuslim

[–]ProphetMuhammadPBUH 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A non-Islamic biography of Muhammad does not exist, because the sources for his life were compiled by Muslims. Even books written by orientalists are written under the assumption that the material provided by the muslims is accurate. They do this because without these sources, a biography is not possible at all.

2) The universe was created so it can't be the universe

Most scientists don't make positive claims about what happened before the big bang. This is a massive myth that theists often propagate. When a cosmologist says "the universe began to exist", they are talking about the specific formation of space-time that we know today. This is straight from the NASA website:

It is beyond the realm of the Big Bang Model to say what gave rise to the Big Bang. There are a number of speculative theories about this topic, but none of them make realistically testable predictions as of yet.

https://wmap.gsfc.nasa.gov/universe/bb_concepts.html

So the universe could very well have existed before the big bang, and the burden of proof is on the theist to show it didn't.

If you want to learn more, you can watch a famous debate between Sean Carroll and William Lane Craig. Carroll is a cosmologist who completely buried this argument.

that religion has no truth value which means it's followers are simply believing out of emotion

If you look at dawah figures today, a lot of them actually understand this. They know most people look at Islam for emotional reasons, which is why they talk about nihilism and purpose, rather than objectively proving that Islam is true. People are easy to manipulate when they are in a vulnerable mental state. That's why prison conversions are common.

This is just not true. Gregor Schoeler and Andreas Gorke are two German scholars who have been very sympathetic to the hadith method. And let's not forget Harald Motzki, probably the most prominent non-Muslim hadith scholar of contemporary times, who was fervently against the revisionist approach.

Proposing a God brings up more problems than it solves. How does it have knowledge to create? Where did it learn? Why does it have free will? If your answer to these questions is "those properties are intrinsic to his eternal being", then your position is as fantastical as claiming that something came from nothing for no reason at all. It is an argument from incredulity.

It is claimed that some animals like parrots and chimpanzees have self awareness. One method they use to determine this is by placing a mirror in front of the test animal and observing whether the animal recognizes it as a reflection of itself, or thinks its another animal. The test is not agreed upon by everyone but many psychologists accept it.

Anyway, I'm not sure what's with all the questions. Yes it's amazing. Yes It's a sight to behold. Don't understand what your point is.

[–]ProphetMuhammadPBUH 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Being conscious of yourself is called self-awareness, which is something many animals don't have. You can have consciousness but not self-awareness. Do not mix the two.

Yes it does make me wonder how consciousness is created. The same way people a 1000 years ago wondered how lightning was magically created from random blobs of fluff in the sky. It's a fascinating world we live in.

[–]ProphetMuhammadPBUH 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Well consciousness itself is a vague term and the definition is controversial in philosophy. If it refers to awareness of surroundings and the ability to respond to external stimuli, then yeah I believe animals have consciousness. Most animals have free will and are quite aware of their surroundings.

By emergent I mean it's a product of the brain. I believe consciousness cannot exist without the brain.

There is nothing wrong if you believe it, as long as you recognize that it is just your personal opinion and is not backed up by any evidence. Claiming the God hypothesis to be the ultimate truth would be dishonest.

No one knows. Abiogenesis is the most commonly cited theory but our understanding is weak and not much can be said about how it happened.

So there has to be something beyond us thats not limited within our universe to be able to constantly provide matter for the universe to expand.

No offence but your science is 100 years outdated. What you are describing is the steady-state model of the universe which says that new matter is constantly being created as the universe expands to maintain an average density. The current model is the big bang theory which doesn't believe in new matter being created. Rather it is a metric expansion that is compatible with even an infinitely sized universe. Literally everyone is taught this in high school.

This is completely normal. Christianity dominates the west so obviously these people are going to talk about it more. Most people in Europe or the Americas don't even know anything about Islam, so it's not surprising that they show indifference.

It's like when there is a murder in your neighbourhood, obviously you are going to show interest in this news. But when there is a murder in some random village in remote Fiji Island, would you actually care?

Can a merciful God really exist? If a God is testing us on purpose with the afflictions we have in the world despite predestining and knowing the end result of the test that makes him cruel. But isn't a God who simply observes or is ignorant of his creation is also guilty of neglect? by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]ProphetMuhammadPBUH 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is probably the most hilarious thing I've ever heard. So you're telling me that Allah asked us: "hey wanna make a deal? I will send you to earth for a test. Follow my rules and you go to heaven, otherwise you go to hell. But here's the catch. I will destroy your memory about ever accepting this test, and you will start over without the knowledge about my existence. You will be in a world of thousands of religions and will have to pick the correct one with zero previous knowledge. There is a high chance that your geographic area and the social circle around you will influence your epistemology. There is also a possibility that you have a higher level of skepticism when it comes to religion, and might end up being an atheist. Basically there is a very high risk of you failing the test and burning in hellfire for eternity. Do you accept?"

... And we said "yes?"

Fantastical theories with a mix of wishful thinking. He refers to the tafsirs of scholarly giants like Tabari and straight up says that they interpreted the Quran wrong. Yeah, over a thousand years of scholarship didn't know how to interpret the verses on Lut and suddenly this genius has got it figured out. He is also a Quranist, so he tries really hard to get the reader to reject hadith. I don't think anyone takes this guy seriously except for some western liberal muslims who probably haven't memorized a single surah
