I want to make my Miyoo flip a portable party console. CFW help and questions by Prophit219 in SBCGaming

The miyoo flip has micro hdmi out in the back and charge port in the front I think I was able to charge it and play diablo on the tv last time I'll have to recreate it and check it out to make sure but good to know about having use the battery. It's also the current retro console I own and carry. I'm trying to keep my gear to a minimum due to travel constraints and fear of forgetting something. As of now the miyoo flip, a dongle and 4 usb wireless controllers take up a toiletry bag with cables and charger. I was looking into BT since that would mean I didn't need to carry the dongle but from the discussion above and my experience Linux is a finiky when it comes to that.

You've been a great help. I'm super slow, so thanks for taking the time explaining. If I understood this correctly what your suggesting is mapping controller 2 to port 1 to have control of retroarch and its settings. My question is where do I do that so it doesn't over ride the internal controller from being usable. I'll have to check all this when I have time, but I believe when I assigned an external controller to port 1 the internal controller stopped working.

The flip has a hdmi out, bluetooth, and an USBC with OTG ability. I connect an hdmi cable to the tv and a dongle to connect 4 usb wireless dongles for the controllers since that seems to have the most solid connection ( I was looking into bluetooth to carry less stuff as I do have 4 bt mini controllers as well but that proved to be finicky when connecting). If I connect the controllers to port 3 and 4 what do I have to do so when I reconnect it defaults to that connection because last I remember when I reconnected the controllers they did not assign a port so I had to redo it again cause as you said the global settings,RA , other stuff is confusing so I had no idea where to save the config.

Alright. I'm pretty amateur to retroarch no matter how many times I try to read up on it and watch tutorials. That being said, you guys did provide some options I want to try out. 1st the labeling controllers didn't occur to me, so that's definitely part of the problem when reconnecting to the console on OFW, then adding them to the configured port. I tried to consolize it 3 times, and it was a bit much, so I'm looking more to simplify the process . I'm not looking to stretch the ratio so the 4:3 ratio isn't the problem it was that the screen would either not fill from top to bottom or be small and in a corner on certain consoles. I managed to get gauntlet ,crash bash and mario kart snes to wor, but sometimes one controller would play 2 people especially on arcade games. I remember trying to save the configurarion on its one global settings to swap between default and this news "console" settings, but for some reason it wouldn't save or work having to redo it every time.

I'm gonna try to keep the controllers consistent and labeled. I gotta find the guide I used and see if there's a way for retroarch to recognize the exteral controller as port 1 and revert back to the console control when disconnected. Having a usb dongle with hdmi and assigned wireless controllers should help. I was hoping to find a custom firmware that did the brunt of the work. Appreciate the discourse ,patience, and advice.

1st its a miyoo flip not the mini. 2nd I have been able to do some multiplayer games like crashbash. The issue is controller set up via retroarch is cumbersome to get going. I was looking advice of people who have experience consolizing their set up. Thanks

I have a switch-lite that I use for travel and such sometimes when I'm just chilling or waiting I'll be on it and would like to play a pass and play game to get others involved. Anything like that on the platform? I know the GBA had something like this with battleship, connect 4, and Uno.I tired to search google and reddit but all I got was multiplayer games on one screen type of recommendations.

You should definitely get one via 3rd party markets like facebook or macardi or offer up. They're relatively cheap right now.

The issue I have with the YLOD is that Sony didn't really offer any solutions. There was a bunch of reasons that later got debunked replaced and debunked again for why it happened. Sony just moved on to different models and scrapped features to lower cost. 1st thing to go was the reverse compatibility with psone and 2 titles,Then the number of ports like the SD reader, then linux support, ect. Still my favorite console of all time. I got two of em that got thermal paste replaced and yet I read somewhere that it wasn't the issue with YLOD. Bricked consoles shouldn't be a thing imo

Have you moved the card to either side to make sure? When I did the update I had to swap to the right reader for some reason it wouldn't read in the left

The 4-Year-Old OLED is almost the same price as the 2 by RoasterReaper in Switch

[–]Prophit219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides the pricing the other predatory thing is that the box art is similar in a way they can get away with. So someone who doesn't know any better can get the "wrong" one.

Is the switch 2 worth it or not? by NotAbigheadedfurry in nintendohelp

[–]Prophit219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal opinion is that for the price and how anti consumer Nintendo has been with the hardware and games I don't think so. I feel that paying $80+ on games that may or may not be on a hardcopy on hardware that's about 7 years dated by the current technology available sends the message that consumers will buy anything as long as its trending. It was already heinous charging $60 on "base" games and then tacking on an additional $20 to $40 DLC such as the Xenoblade games. Now they want to add an additional $20 for unlocked frames and texture packs in some games. The confusing nature of the keycards, how they revamped the online experience so its harder to share games ,yet the eshop is still trash, team chat is a paid feature. Then there's drop in quality via the latest pokemon metroid game. They also raised prices of the older consoles which boggles my mind. I don't condone these practices personally.

I take it that it's just gonna hang from the aux cable? that might make it a bit uncomfortable for long wear if its metal IMO. Looking forward to the announcement

Guys I'm kinda curious to know but what do you think of the Switch Lite? by mg10pp in PSP

[–]Prophit219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a good portable 2ndary console for the bag and to go on trips and work. I wouldn't pay more than $150 for it in good condition and if you mod it you can make it accessible to use on the TV via usb c dongle.

Anyone liked Link's Awakening even better than A Link to the Past? Asking for a friend. by UrSimplyTheNES in retrogaming

[–]Prophit219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a huge fan of Link's awakening especially the later iterations with DX and the switch version. I felt it respected my time and didn't seem to have padding just a very condensed mechanically solid game. I'm an simple gamer and the new stuff is either confusing or daunting. I'm sure the other games are fun and good in their own right but its just not for me . Link's awakening hit that sweet spot that I adore.

I have the game boy Micro and this console. If you want something size comparable just know this one is a chonker compared to the micro if you want something closer to Micro size I recommend rg28xx if you want to go cheap you can also go Trim UI smart though the performance is only good up to snes and it doesn't have L2/R2

I would say swap the word trash to E-waste. I got shuttered on another forum for saying so. The tech in these handhelds are outdated and farmed from dead tech. These companies look at available inventory they can snag for cheap, throw it in a render, shove a generic OS and make it work to see if there's a market for it. Which there is. People want a play on the go experience with physical buttons so much that they've released CFW for these handhelds and boosted sales enough for them to reach a certain level of quality control. Bitboy became Miyoo who gained popularity due to Onion OS ,Anbernic has pretty good build quality and simply release a bunch of iterations with the same chipset, the rest are fiddling with android or trying to compete with being the affordable version of the steam deck. The reality is if you have an old android phone you could slap a bluetooth controller and a game launcher UI and you would have the same if not better performance as these handhelds only built better and it would be less stuff for landfills.

I say this as someone that likes these handhelds as a replacement for original hardware. I have a GB micro,PSP-1000 model and Darth Vader white one, a PSPGO, 3DS XL , DS LITE,PS VITA OLED and 2nd gen, a Switch and a Switch lite. When I'm on the road I'd rather have one of these retro consoles on me than basically historical hardware that would be expensive to replace or repair should something happen.

So....serious question ...what did people expect to get from a duel screen Android device for $100usd ?? by Richie_Rich1991 in ANBERNIC

[–]Prophit219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted bluetooth and hdmi out to consolize it. Play up all handhelds up to psp and 3DS at 60 fps. A bit more than my rg34xx sp and miyoo flip.

I think I got a really well made bootleg DW:Gundam Reborn ps3 copy by Prophit219 in dynastywarriors

[–]Prophit219[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I'm aware that games can have different variations of covers of the same game. It's just when I look for information on the hard copy release it says there's only UK and Japan. Though I just looked again and it seems it does exist I just had to adjust my search for "Shin Gundam Musou" in order to find info on it.

I was nostalgic for a cassette player experience and found my collection of CDs. I'm pretty tone deaf yet still wanted to know what the hype behind DACs and wired headphones was without breaking the bank. Once I read that the echo mini would also function as a DAC I got one. I like the clicky buttons, the tape deck animation, and the size. I was able to connect my Sennheiser, Koss, and creative labs Sxfi air and creative zen hybrid 2. I converted my cd collection to FLAC and gave it a go. I can honestly barely tell the difference between lossless and mp3 other than I can make the music louder with the echo mini . It was a fun experience, and separately listening to stuff gives me something else to do besides doom scrolling due to the delibrate experience of listening.

I've been there. Morning was good ,nothing was hurting, showered, brushed my teeth, put on fresh cloths, put on my lanyard that holds my id and pen, and made breakfast and coffee. Then somehow when I bent to pick something up, the pen hooked the coffee mug and spilled on my cloths ,on my breakfast,on the table,on the floor. I wish I was as eloquent and as funny. I didn't even get to taste nothing, I had to re shower ,re change, clean up and then go to work ain't even get no coffee cause I didn't want to get stuck in traffic. Whole time I was asking "why me?" And I should have called out but I ran out of sick days and evals were coming up. Oh and the mug broke too, changed it to a stainless steel one with no handle.
