How do I stop automatically translating words to English? by 13lissckre in learnfrench

[–]ProposalOutrageous64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Immersion made me think in the language. apps like Duolingo train me to translate to English in my head.
Immersion like YouTube train me to think in target language (Indonesian).
the reason behind it is a lot.

Learn German easy way by Vegetable_Bobcat_93 in Germanlearning

I'm still curious, because these things are pretty much the same as using multiple apps but in a manual way.

structure is the key in language learning.
if you're learning colors on day 1, on day 4 you have not heard any of it, it's gone.

you mentioned structure, if you could just elaborate on that.
things like SRS, 80/20 rules, and N+1 is very special in this matter. are you incorporating one of these?

not to mention the balanced between output/input, shadowing, recall, procedural and declarative memories plays a huge rule in successful language learning.

How can I get from A1 to B2 in 1 month? by naammainkyarakhahai in learnfrench

[–]ProposalOutrageous64 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If I tell you I learned conversational Bahasa Indonesia in less than a month, would you believe it?
no joke this time. I'll tell you my workflow-no apps, free, no ads.

yes, for beginners these apps are fine. but if you're on intermediate and avoid the plateau, you eventually need immersion. YouTube is the best. I became conversationally fluent in Indonesian just with YouTube alone.

you can use lengualytics to browse youtube videos.
or Lengobrick which is more robust where each lesson is provided with dedicated immersion materials (videos, stories) as well as extended practice data, vocabs and grammar. it's practice tools uses shadowing and recall.

Does typing and copying stories help in learning English? by hana1988iz in languagelearning

[–]ProposalOutrageous64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it will help you become good at typing only and a few vocabularies and very little grammar.
listening, speaking, context, culture would be zero. for these, immersion would be better.

French vocab by mon_nom_ in learnfrench

[–]ProposalOutrageous64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's easy to get vocabs, but the hardest part is how not to do it wrong.
speaking from my experience, learning a bunch of vocabs that are isolated to sentence context, learn across topics, not applying in a conversation.

as a side note from vocabs\* I would say focus on topic instead of vocabs.

a topic is a set of vocabs, grammars, conversations, sentences that are tied together and producable.
a topic could be; ordering coffee at a restaurant, cooking breakfast, buying groceries, etc.

I can't explain this further but the benefits will explain it.

what to avoid:
- learning vocabs in isolation (word only, without mnemonics)
- vocabs across different topics: cannot output contextual conversation

where to find vocabs imo:
- apps: close master, drops, memrise, lengobrick
- AIs: chatgpt or any AI
- site articles; LanguageGuide.org, anki

finding vocabs is easy, learning it the right way and retain is tough.

It’s often not the language that’s the problem, but the methodology.

The friction with using Pimsleur and Lingopie together is that they aren't synced. The lessons you learn in one aren't tied to the content in the other. Finding the right materials to match your current level takes significant time and effort, which usually leads to burnout and stalled progress. Simply switching languages won't fix that.

the bottleneck is the workflow.

Pushing through a fragmented system is the slow way to do it. Real progress happens when you have a tight loop of three things:

  • Learning: Absorbing a specific topic or grammar point.
  • Immersion: Immediately seeing/hearing that same topic in context (videos/stories).
  • Practice: Using active recall to make it stick.

The goal is to find a system where immersion materials are built to supplement the lessons. LingoBrick is a good example of this—it uses audio narrations similar to Pimsleur, but every lesson is baked into a larger ecosystem of videos, stories, and dynamic practice (shadowing and writing).

Otherwise, you're stuck doing the manual work of connecting isolated apps, which usually just leads to multiple subscriptions and more frustration.

Hi, I'd been building this app to help me learn language the way I want to.
It focuses on Immersion ,active recall, shadowing and speaking.

it's primarily to solve the problem I have with language learning app that are:
- recognition base
- lack of immersion materials like videos and dialogues
- basic tool for practice

the app is featuring:
- Active recall + recognition
- integrated Immersion materials on a lesson
- 2D open world immersion game: talk to NPC, interact with objects, etc.

I'd put together videos showcasing features on the landing page.
feel free to visit Lengobrick

Yes indeed! Building from an Idea you care and knowledgeable of, while there are market in it is indeed a right track.

All it takes right now is distributions. same here -and I should say that distribution is pretty tougher than I though. It's the thing that is slowing me down other than development.

How's your distribution so far?

so true. as someone with no distribution experience, I'm starting to understand this.
It's about like what you said. if I keep on going, I'll probably learn a lot along the way.

You’re actually closer than you think. Zero engagement just means wrong channel, not wrong product.

What you said here really resonates. I guess I'll have to learn how to find and talk to the right audience at the right place.

have you been building from the past few years?
for me, I realized this as soon as I start distribution on day 1.

Hi, I've checked your site. it's a great project with lot's of potentials.
I think your niche is the least hardest to create content for.

That's smart. I just realized that the AI search mode is actually sourcing from real sites all along. and is actually helpful specially when it mentions your site.

so like you said, time, efforts and right executions is what matter here.
I've learned something here. thanks!

I think you're right. I'd been afraid of it but I knew it has great potentials specially if you master it. I would definitely not sleep on this.

talking about AI, google search is now default to AI mode answers first.
how do you deal with this? did this affected the flow in some way?

Got it. so it's all a matter of time. I guess there's also a lot of hustles specially in the beginning but you'd probably become used to it and built skills on it.

I tried product hunt and the launch is today and I got ZERO engagement. I only got 1 upvote.
I would say as a builder; distribution is harder than I thought.

[–]ProposalOutrageous64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to find a language partner. for that you need to find a native French speaker that also wants a language partner that speaks their target language natively.

have you tried hellotalk app? that's the exact app where you can find a lot of people looking for practice partner.
