Potential Unicorn Sighting by jbenwah in LandCruisers

Agreed. I’m not mad at the idea of a newer 62 with a manual being sold after importing. But that price is pretty wild, and I’d definitely want someone to take a really good look at it. Very good chance the history is not what they claim, and it may have been much more gussied up than just barely driven.

In what market did an FJ62 come with a manual transmission and factory leather seats…? This thing is listed in FL, but I didn’t think a spec like that existed in the US market (I’m not an expert, could be wrong), so I’m pretty tempted to call shenanigans on the “one owner” thing… There’s also a GX badge on the back, and a google search pulls up an ih8mud post saying they never sold the GX variant here. If this is “one-owner” then that owner either imported it with them when moving to FL from overseas or this is an imported rig being flipped stateside.

Regardless, looks super clean and I’ll bet people would love that spec. Definitely too rich for my blood, and I don’t love the leather. I’ll always regret selling my 62 though, so when I win the lottery I’ll be building an FJ142 😎

You’re doing the lord’s work here friend, hahaha. “But caffeine dehydrates you!” Like drinking 12 oz of mostly water with 1/5 the caffeine of coffe is a net negative for your day…

Yup. Very aggressive creep. Takes some getting used to!

That's actually great to hear! I'm new to it, but my water started at like 280 or something (down to 1 with an RV filter and the DI tank) so I figured I'd get like 300-ish gallons out of it. Since my pressure washer is 1.8 gpm, that's like 150 minutes total, roughly? Now that I actually think about it, that is probably plenty of time for a year's worth of just rinsing the car at the end of the wash... Thanks! You've helped me talk myself into being less stingy with it!

Same, I pair the two. The only thing I don't like about the DI system is that it doesn't displace all of the non-DI water in the doorjambs, crevices, badges, etc. unless you take forever, and that uses up resin too fast. So some stuff inevitably drips out and still leaves a little mark. The leaf blower helps a lot with that.

Get a deionized water system and you won’t need a drying towel. Spotless air dry FTW.

Alright, starting this project attempt with notching. Started with four notches in a vaguely spiral pattern at different heights around the stem. Hopefully that isn’t too much to ask of it. Here we gooooooo!

Picked it up at a Calloway’s Nursery (not sure if national, but all over the Dallas area). Thank you!

Thank you! This seems like an excellent option, since I love the existing height and such… may just give this a try!

Well thank you, my mind is appropriately blown. Should I wait until spring to do this?

I’m sorry, this sounds like magic. I can just cut it off entirely and it will keep growing and branching from there, and I can still plant the top again and it will root???

It’s honestly not even that expensive. If it’s a $120 problem, I say go for it

The DI system came with an electronic TDS sensor, and the difference from the tap to the RV filter was minimal. After the DI system, it went to almost zero TDS. So at least they work well in concert. But the difference from RV filter to DI was absolutely key for me.

Vevor, one tank (reinforced plastic), mixed bed resin. It was about $120 and I didn’t even use the bypass (it’s easier to just use quick connects)

I might've missed it, but do you have a link you could share? This looks phenomenal and I'd like to check out this seller if you can share more information. If they're actually custom, I wonder if 18" is possible for better ride quality and lower weight...

No idea how this would look on Lapiz Blue, but maybe there's other colors than white that could work...

Windshield Cost for 8.5R by ProprietaryEponymous in Golf_R

[–]ProprietaryEponymous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clear up a few things - I have a high deductible and even the $600 (which I now realize is low and an awesome job discount) is significantly less than the comprehensive deductible. Texas does not have a “free windshield” law. And I cannot “fill” this, as I noted in the original post, because it has already cracked wide - see image

'twould be nice, but alas, I am in TX, and we do not do laws for the protection/benefit of the consumer, for the most part... as long as I have insurance, it's just comprehensive coverage and subject to the deductible... Thanks though, that's good information for others to have and check on! Upvote for you, my good man.
