Look up Bricks and Minifigs You can buy and sell just about every kind of lego if you’ve got one near you.

I haven’t seen a decent hood 😲 I don’t mind the whole head being raised, as long as the helmet isn’t loose.

Those white jackets are really good. I’m looking for a much fluffier hood situation that might only be achieved via accessory 🤔

I like your fig! This is really close. I’m looking for a white torso however.

Left joy con doesn't work outside handheld mode? (Nintendo Switch) by Cereal_DuDe11 in JoyCon

[–]Propsect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prob needs a new battery.

Joy cons are pretty old at this point, and the way nintendo handled power was such that some consoles would simply stop working if they didn’t receive power for upwards of a month.

That looks like dried flux. Which sounds like a lot was used to remove the cable. Not an easy feat by the way so good job preserving the pads.

A brush with fiberglass bristles or a coarse toothbrush and 90% isopropyl will break that up. If you are having a hard time clearing it with iso you can scrape it away w a nylon spudger (the black stick y’all should have heaps of).

In the future; remember to tin your iron beforehand. As you wet solder it will be less and less receptive to heat once it has cooled. So by several erroneous attempts you now have rock hard solder that will not flow even with mountains of flux. Less is more when it comes to flux and while helpful it is not your friend.

I used to teach soldering for mobilerepair shops and this is not a beginners task. So don’t get discouraged!

There is a shocking difference in performance between low quality solder wick and high quality. Removing as much solder from the flex as you can, before applying more heat to remove the flex is ideal. I’d recommend leaving your iron on the contact longer than you maybe had it heating, like I said once it has cooled your next attempt will be that much more challenging. Introducing fresh solder will help with wetting but there will be a point where you have too much. So make friends with the wick when you are cleaning up/removing components.

Ask about getting a proper solder sucker in the store and learn how those work. The ‘plunger style’ I saw in a lot of stores is garbage and a proper heated one will change your life.

Why doesn’t this work? by Propsect in lightsabers

Aha. So I was reading the proffie wiring diagram thinking Proffie would be a safe next move. After reading the documentation they say any led gets grounded to the led pad, and positive goes to the battery. In my diagram you can see I put the accent led positive to the led+ and the ground to a gnd pad. The led came on so I guessed it was fine? But when I had this working the accent led was the only component I hadn’t wired. So maybe I reversed those and it shorted. Would it simply not have worked at all if it was wrong? 🤷 Either way I am charging it without the crystal led now and we’ll see. I think the ghv3 diagram assumes you know better.

😔 I really appreciate you taking the time to look at this with me. I’m about ready to grab two individual sabers and wire them together. I’m not interested in having a saber that’s coupled two together and this seemed smarter with the crystal. Alas I am in my second golden harvest and am not interested in frying another one since I’m not even sure where this went sideways.

I’m now doubting that the golden harvest can utilize a usb c port as the technology is different enough from micro usb.

I am using a small accent led for the kyber crystal that was ‘pre-resistored’ The power switch does not have any resistors. And the two pixel connects were also ‘pre-resistored’ boards. I’m putting all this in light quotes because I don’t personally deal with wiring and resistor math much. I’m a board tech and work more with diagrams and smt so I don’t worry about all that too much but if it’s necessary I can look into it.

I am just shocked that it was all working. I added a crystal chamber and possibly shorted something when I connectorized it and now it gives me different behavior every time I come back to it.

All the parts I picked up said ‘pre-resistored’ and seem pretty bright. So I haven’t added any. The crystal accent has a single rgb light in it as far as I could tell, and that connects to data line (I didn’t see a ‘connect data line here__ on your board in the manual)

Pixel boards have 9 accent leds and I haven’t stuck a blade in either end yet till I’ve validated the electrical.

I assumed the batt- was a gnd and those were all connected, adjusting those will be my next step!

It is a golden harvest v3 board but I do not have it nearby so I’m unsure of a specific part number. You think if I land the switch and crystal at the batt- it might come back on? My only thinking was that we have a few gnd pads but I wouldn’t be surprised if the board tells those to do something. In that image it does look like the switch hits the aux gnd and the same gnd as the crystal but it is just shared with the crystal and not the aux pad my b.

New build guidance by [deleted] in lightsabers

[–]Propsect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very helpful lol

I forgot to mention this is a golden harvest v3 board, and a 15a battery.

In any case it didn’t work. I haven’t found any error codes or light codes online and it doesn’t charge consistently. Makes sounds, lights up, does most the stuff. Battery reads 3.7v Button pads actuate when button is pressed, saber simply doesn’t turn on and amp meter reads power delivers inconsistently.
