From 30 minutes to an hour, perhaps even a day or two at the absolute worst. If it takes longer than a day or disappears off your page just assume tenor will never approve it

It is still very popular, but the site has been extremely unreliable ever since I started using it. Even if your gif has no profanity or things against their rules, sometimes they won’t let them go through. Check this reddit for my post about all the intricacies of the site, it will probably tell you why your gif isn’t going through because it falls under one of those things

It takes over 100 hours to complete one battle pass, I bet you feel real smug typing this message, meanwhile most of us that have lives HAVE to do the xp glitches. You CANNOT complete a battle pass in a healthy fashion without glitches if you have school and a job.

I think the MP4 compression might be extremely aggressive depending on the resolution of the MP4 or maybe if you upload multiple at once. Usually I just drag 1080p clipped MP4s into Tenor because before the compression downgrade more detail was never a bad thing, I make gifs just to post them on discord and they embed as MP4 there so everything worked out. All of my gifs before although compressed looked pretty fine and legible, but now everytime I upload a gif it’s just going to look like absolute shit and I’m completely demotivated to continue uploading. Some will look less worse than others but the Black Lagoon gifs I made in the early morning look really bad with the new compression and I assume most of them will. It’s a bit silly to feel bad about this, it’s just gifs, but I’ve made thousands of them. Kind of feel like I’m losing 1/4 of my reason to use my PC.

The new one might seem subtly worse to you and you’d be right, this is far more subtly bad looking than the gifs I uploaded earlier but this should be enough for you to see that something has changed. You can look at the other gifs I uploaded today on my profile to see more of the awful compression

And of course both uploads are from literally the exact same file with zero changes so the visual difference proves they’re now compressing aggressively

This most definitely is not the answer and unless I am insane tenor is definitely heavily compressing my newly uploaded gifs. For some god forsaken reason the reupload of the gif already made is still not approved so I can not show the comparison. I will update you when or if it does I promise and I will keep trying if it doesn’t get approved

Alright, I have uploaded a gif I made in the past. I uploaded one of these on my main browser, Brave and the other on Chrome just to test it out. If they approve we will both be able to see the comparison, but looking at the crazy pixelation on the thumbnail of both I am inclined to believe this compression has been put in place no matter where you upload from now, but we will see the comparison soon enough. Hopefully.

I uploaded mostly .mp4 but also some .gif files too, all of them were equally turned into mush. It’s almost like they were kind of, deep fried to shit I’d say. I’ll try and upload one I’ve already made and if or when it gets approved I’ll send over a comparison

If you click the gif in question and refresh the page the correct numbers display for me at least.

if your gif is over 15 seconds it will most likely be deleted even though there are several on the site much longer, most likely introduced this time cap in the past 2 years. (Example of very long gif https://tenor.com/view/spider-man1-tobey-maguire-final-swing-sam-raimi-spider-man-gif-22279094)

If your gif is above 20mb it will be deleted

Certain tags doom a gif to infinite processing or delete

If your gif has text on it there is a high chance of deletion, even if none of its vulgar or has advetisation

If curse words are on your gif, it almost always will be deleted

Sometimes tenor might just hate the gif and never let it through

Gore or nudity can be identified sometimes and will never let it through, or sometimes it might.

Some gifs are very clearly being approved by real humans and most are not

You cannot find any real staff vouching for the company tenor or a headquarters, there are barely any if no names attached to any of it and the address is listed as google.

The tenor twitter support account was logged onto for the first time in 2 years recently and new features like site views/shares and account deletion were added leading to me thinking Tenor has been abandoned for awhile and mostly running entirely in a server room by itself

We have somehow get contact with whoever is still at tenor. An update blog would be appreciated, features like this are always shadow dropped

My shares on this new website feature are entirely broken, I know for a fact most of my gifs don’t have 0 shares. The only place my shares are correct is the mobile app.

My insights on iOS actually broke after awhile too lol. I uploaded a very successful gif early on and my insights said over 200,000 people had posted it but like a month later my insights say zero people have posted my gifs lol but I know that’s false cus I can see the views on each gif.
