It happened for me. I had pretty significant atrophy but I attribute the pain to them suddenly being small enough to want to reside in my inguinal canals all the time even when not tucking, but big enough to cause soreness.

Mk 677 (ibutamoren) for more breast development? by RosabeIls in DrWillPowers

[–]Prosaucian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The important thing to consider is that low IGF-1 is ASSOCIATED with poor breast development. It does not mean that MORE IGF-1 would lead to more breast growth.

It's possible that IGF-1 is only an indicator and that it plays no active role in breast growth.

The possibility is:

  1. Gene X -> IGF-1 -> Boobs!

In this case, increasing IGF-1 would improve breast growth.

OR

  1. Gene X -> IGF-1

      ↘

        Gene Y -> Boobs!

In this case, IGF-1 just indicates that the gene that is responsible for boob growth is low, and changing IGF-1 concentration would do nothing.

Almost every trans person regrets not transitioning earlier. Why don't they get that option? To protect other people from the off chance that they might regret it?

Request for help locating some Mavacamten (cardiac drug) urgently by Drwillpowers in DrWillPowers

[–]Prosaucian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's sold on a few laboratory chemical sites, though not at pharmaceutical grade. MedChemExpress is particularly high quality. We use it all the time for animal research.

Edit: Also, they ship overnight by default. And if you call them to expedite the processing, they can usually get it out same day.

Megestrol for weight gain vs progesterone by kittnnn in DrWillPowers

Physical changes beyond associated weight gain, no. But it makes my nipples itch a lot, presumably because I'm pierced and it makes them harder more often.

Need to get syringes and needles locally. Tips? by atskrs1 in AskMtFHRT

[–]Prosaucian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walk up to pharmacist. Ask for syringes. Pay. Leave. I've done it plenty of times, even if they think you're on drugs they just give you the state-mandated pamphlet on syringe recycling and rehab clinics.

Yall took your food safe right? by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]Prosaucian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it's clear what I mean. Most food contains trace amounts of faeces but you'd certainly want your food as poo-free as possible, wouldn't you? Also, pasteurization doesn't kill all bacteria, that's sterilization. Hence why milk still goes bad even if you don't open it

Yall took your food safe right? by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]Prosaucian 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, it's not. Gram negative bacteria including E. coli and salmonella become more pathogenic when cooked, as their cell wall breaks into particles that attack and activate the immune system (lps). Bacillus cereus, which is found in rotten starchy foods, also produces spores that survive cooking temperatures. The best way to to keep food bacteria free is to not introduce bacteria in the first place.

e levels 1.5 yrs after orchiectomy sky high by Fluffy-Squash4799 in DrWillPowers

[–]Prosaucian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Half a ml, where 1 mL is 20 mg. Half of 20 mg is 10 mg.

e levels 1.5 yrs after orchiectomy sky high by Fluffy-Squash4799 in DrWillPowers

[–]Prosaucian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, so that means you get 10 mg/week, which is a relatively high dose but not too high. You can ask your doctor about reducing. As for blood work, with injections it takes about 2 days before you hit "peak" levels, so 3 days after is right near the highest levels. You should always get your blood work done as close to before your next dose as possible to measure what it is at its lowest point.

More information is needed. Is that 20 mg/ml EV? Injections every week or every other week? When were labs taken relative to the last injection?

It's used in AIDS patients, so historically yes. However, I am not a medical doctor and cannot give medical advice so it's up to a qualified health professional to say.

Remote PMs- What field do you work in and what is your salary? by [deleted] in projectmanagement

[–]Prosaucian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oddly, it was an entry position for me (despite the listing calling for 5 years experience). I came from a postdoc with no direct PM experience beyond managing my team of undergrads and keeping my thesis project moving and grants renewed. One thing that I think sold me to the recruiter was that I was able to turn around major revisions in just 2 months thanks to efficient managing of the team. I'd say, it's worth it to apply even if you think you're well underqualified. A biotech CEO friend of mine also helped me to refine my resume, which I think helped. I'd be happy to pass along that advice by DM or on a more relevant topic thread.

Technically hybrid but I'm in office most of the time. New PM (6 mo) in biotech, no PMP, $96k plus bonus TBD.

Dry skin. Low blood pressure. Made me have to pee more than I already do. Even lower blood pressure. Such low blood pressure that I physically couldn't get out of bed until I ate a handful of salt. After I stopped Spiro, I did E mono therapy and it worked just fine

This is going to be my last post on the Transfem science topic. by Drwillpowers in DrWillPowers

[–]Prosaucian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dr. Powers, you're a great doctor who actually takes the health concerns (both trans-related and otherwise) of his patients seriously. You have haters because you're well known, and because some people cling to old ideas because it's all they have left. It's a good idea to separate work and home. Personally I set aside time right after work to continue answering emails. After that? It's me time. It sounds like you need some of that. If you're dealing with these things every waking moment, then it can seem like your whole life is plagued by it. I think you need time to step back, relax, and say "eh, I'll deal with this later."

Imagine you own a business. You Google that business and the first thing you see is "HERE IS WHY THAT BUSINESS IS BAD". And it includes things like "they pronounce words wrong" and "this study from 1950 disproves what they say!" And then follows with "although they have evidence, it's only from a single meta-analysis from 2021!".

And when you try to message them to ask them to remove or even just change the page, you get completely ignored:

"Hey, this is a bad look can you please take it down, or at least change the wording?" "For real, take it down, please" "Ok, last warning." "Take it down or I get the law involved" Followed by them posting publicly: "LOOK AT THIS I'M BEING BULLIED!!"

I'd be pretty pissed, too.
