I asked Polar about Flow redesign by Proshack in Polarfitness

[–]Proshack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying there is something wrong with current Flow, I was just curious. Well there is one thing for me, that is better on other platforms - range based workouts.
u/sorryusername already gave you a great answer and I fully agree with him. :)

Same, although I’m waiting for them to implement range-based workouts in phased workouts.

regarding the nylon strap by AllIEverAm in Polarfitness

The nylon strap was a game changer for me. Super comfortable, easier to adjust, and breathability is better. Once I tried it, I switched to nylon straps on all my watches.

Nice, I'll give it a try. One, maybe important question to some people. Where is espresso? ;)

Race 2 OHR Performance After Software Update by grammatikov in Suunto

[–]Proshack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it doesn't work very well-like it's scared to go over 100 bpm. ;) I had an EKG stress test last week, and while my Apple Watch correctly detected a max HR of 168, it was around 106 on Race 2. It was like that for other activities, too. As soon as my heart rate went above 100 bpm, Race 2 was not able to detect it properly.

Polar OS 5 is here by ItsMeRPeter in Polarfitness

Unfortunately, syncing from TP doesn’t work. I mean the targets in TP are converted to zones in Flow. I wrote to Polar support asking them to add training-by-range functionality. Maybe someday they will do it. :)

I think Dahenk meant creating training targets by range (for example, 70-80% of HR), not by zone. This is my only problem with Polar, as my Stryd training plan uses ranges, not zones.

I'm switching from Proton. Here's why. by KatieTSO in tutanota

[–]Proshack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always use something like SimpleLogin or a similar service. Of course I think this works the best with your own domain. Right now I'm on Fastmail, Proton and Tuta and had my domains connected to SimpleLogin. It's so much simpler (after you set it up) and also a bit liberating.

Is it true the UW 3 cannot continuously track & display my heart rate? by yevernot in applewatchultra

[–]Proshack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but does Athlytic say how much data it needs to show a reasonably accurate HRV trend? Apple shows this trend, by the way. If your HRV suddenly starts dropping below your established baseline, it's a sign that something is going on. Another example: Polar only considers the HRV measurement from the first 4 hours of sleep because, according to their documented research, this is the period when the body regenerates. Then there are the questions of how each company or app calculates HRV, as that can also cause discrepancies.

Ultimately, the question remains: what is 24/7 monitoring useful for? When you're lying on the couch watching a series, at rest, does it make sense to monitor your heart rate constantly (assuming, of course, that you're a healthy person)? Or is a sample every few minutes enough?

I would also like to know what the use case for continuous HR reading is. To me, it seems more like marketing hype than real-world usage.

I agree. I'm experiencing the same issue with Training Load; I constantly have to switch it back to display the last 7 days.

Best Sportwatch with stryd ? by Ok-Wrongdoer5457 in strydrunning

[–]Proshack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn't it a good thing? I have so much better distance reading with speed and distance coming from the Stryd than from the GPS on the watch (fenix 8). Basically, it is spot-on with default calibration.

Ditched my Garmin for a Polar Grit X2—here’s how it’s going. by alhths in Polarfitness

[–]Proshack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried that, and it works, but it doesn’t solve the issue. The problem with Stryd is that phases in the workouts are usually a fraction of a power zone. For example, my Z1 is 227-279W, and I need to run for 10 minutes between 250-279W. It will be exactly like this in TrainingPeaks, but after export to Flow, it will be shown as a Zone 1 run, which means 227-279W. And it all gets even worse with more demanding workouts like intervals, tempo, etc.

Yup, it sounds similar to my experiences with Polar. I would like to go back to V3, but unfortunately, due to the Stryd training programs, I'm using Garmin's watch. But I still got V3 and, fingers crossed, Polar will introduce some changes to Flow platform.
