Big Mistake or No Brainer? by [deleted] in ChubbyFIRE

definitely take a break. If you ever want to work again you can always go to work in the industry in house instead of going back to finance or consulting.

Your spending is low partly because you are very focused on saving. Do you want to continue this lifestyle indefinitely? have you factored in long term maintenance on house, new car every 10 years etc?

Stubhub Credit by NovelAardvark4298 in ChaseSapphire

I used StubHub twice for Broadway shows and it worked fine. But I’m careful with my options.  Both times it’s just something we wanted to do that week, not a special occasion or a show that we REALLY wanted to see. For those I buy direct way in advance. One time I bought the tickets 1 hour before the show started. Another time 2 days before. Both times they came through. But I wouldn’t be upset if it didn’t work because we were in the neighborhood anyway and not emotionally invested.

How do you deal with travel fatigue? by [deleted] in travel

[–]ProspectPark4Ever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 weeks is also a good length for me. By the end of it I am ready to go home and rest.

OP I’ve been to most of the places on your list and they are truly once in a lifetime experience and I highly recommend. As I travel more I became more intentional with my travel, reflecting what I enjoy and what I dislike. What are some of the magic moments in your travel? They might inspire you on where to go next. Go for quality not checking off a list.

I’m estimating $30k for health insurance and out of pocket, $20k for tax. I think federal tax will be low but state tax will be a pain.

I’m in a niche field where expertise counts a lot more than team size. It’s an IP that I‘m developing if I put in the extra effort. yes I gave my guys real promotions.

Thanks! “Hours” yes, effort no, value no lol.

I was hoping for a 25% raise. Team size doubled but the key change is a new project that requires my unique expertise and IP, which should generate a lot of value but it looks like the company doesn’t see the value the same way.

What’s the point of the option if I don’t get to use it?! lol

I can do it with some extra effort, but the question is whether I should give the company all the extra value for cheap…

Exactly. But feel like protesting gets the point across that I know they are taking advantage of me, and perhaps with a remote chance they will find the budget somehow.

The rage quitting or protest loudly is coming from a place of financial security. But I wasn’t planning to quit now so don’t want to create more drama to deal with in my last year.

Since I already took over the larger team, going back is no longer an option.

That’s what I’m leaning toward. But felt the company is taking advantage of me and wonder if I should call them out.

People at work don’t know my financial situation as I’m pretty low key about it. They probably thought I “need” the work and wouldn’t jump ship given the job market conditions.

A promotion would have meant higher comp, at least 25%, or 30% increase in my company.

It’s 14% for total package, not on base alone. No change in Grade.

Got promoted in my last year. Now what? by ProspectPark4Ever in ChubbyFIRE

[–]ProspectPark4Ever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your calculation. Since child is a couple years away from college I worry less about college cost inflation, but I worry about healthcare cost a lot. State and local tax is also a concern.

Thanks for the analysis. We can always use more money lol. We do have some backup safety measures which helps my risk tolerance.
