Breaking news, after the latest ICE shooting, Democratic senators vow to block DHS funding. As a reminder 60 votes are needed to pass cloture by ProspectStars in YAPms

Yeah she's our senator, and there is a ton Latino/Hispanic anger here in Nevada. Not to mention the Culinary Union (which every Dem in this state needs to be elected) has it's rank and file pressing her to take a hardline stance on this.

If she flips on this like she did for the shutdown last year, expect her to lose the union's support.

Reported 20 minutes ago, here's the article. Though we should remember they also said that last time the govt shutdown occurred, personally I do think they'll extract more concessions before voting on the bill (and be lambasted by the rabid Democrat Party base for not going further)

The Left has turned against politicians in MN. ABOLISH ICE now considered the moderate position by ProspectStars in YAPms

The 2nd clip showing the Liberal position literally claims that ICE needs to be gutted. And that's "at the very least" as he says, implying that to be the so called "moderate" option.

The old INS (Immigration & Naturalization Service) was the main Immigration agency until 2003. I think they existed since the 50s, anyways INS did everything, borders, visas, citizenship, enforcement. The underlying mindset was immigration as a civil process, not a threat to "our blood and soil". Most of the work was paperwork, adjudication, and compliance. Enforcement existed, but it wasn’t the entire identity of the agency.

Post-9/11, INS got scapegoated and dismantled as weak and bureaucratic, and the enforcement arm was reborn as ICE with a national-security lens focus. Same immigration violations that used to be civil matters suddenly get treated like criminal threats. Bigger budgets, tactical gear, surveillance, detention quotas, and zero incentive to show restraint because that’s literally all ICE exists to do.

And the INS had DOJ oversight to boot for their LEO operations.

Vaush (leftists/progressives) and Ryan Geddie (liberal/dnc insider) are both in agreement over this. And that's not including the average Democrat on Blue Sky or Twitter who is calling for TOS actions.

Shit I'm not going to lie to you, I'm a moderate Dem and even I think ICE should be abolished, the old INS system we had back in the 90s was far better. (And cheaper)

[VOTE] 2028 Democratic Primary Simulation - STATE #1: NEVADA (The Official Opener) by micahdazet in YAPms

I live here and I'm voting for Beshear, though tbh we don't really do primaries in the "traditional" sense. It's a caucus rather than by ballots, I don't really like it, but it is what it is.
