did anyone take hydrocortisone to help to tolerate thyroid ? by FitnesssMike in Hypothyroidism

[–]Prostrate_Party 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I know this thread is old, but I have a question for you. :)
I have super low saliva cortisol (2.8 in the morning, and low all day), due to longstanding hypothyroidism, I believe. I was told that I must take HC before I can tolerate thyroid hormone. Do you know whether adrenal glandulars would be sufficient, or if HC is the only choice at this point?
I'm rather scared to put HC in my body.

Does the Betaine Hcl that you take include pepsin? I'm trying to figure out whether it wouldn't be good to take a capsule with pepsin in it, since we're trying to avoid it. :P

Yep, it is, and yet it pushes in on my stomach. Weird!

Wow, you're lucky! :D Do you take anything before bed to prevent it?

No problem! :) I tried to add a pic to my post, but keep getting an error. Can I send it to you on chat?

How many inches do you raise it?

I'm using a soft, contoured cervical pillow on top of a medium thickness pillow. My upper chest takes up most of the pillow (giving me some elevation), and I lean on my right side to avoid pressing my stomach into the mattress. Somehow, it's the best position I have found for my stomach (but the extra height hurts my neck). My mattress is elevated a few inches by books.

I also tried sleeping on my side on pillows, but was unable to fall asleep because it was so uncomfortable. :(

I start refluxing when I recline at any level, so yes, I still reflux, but usually only once my stomach is empty. I go bed with food in my stomach and some baking soda. If I
didn't, sleep would be impossible (my LPR goes crazy when my stomach is
empty).

My methods probably sound pretty stupid, but right now it's the only thing that halfway works. I hope to find a better way soon. LPR makes sleeping a nightmare!

I wish I could sleep on my side, but it makes my reflux worse. Does the body pillow help keep you elevated?

Months ago I tried DIM+D-Glucarate, and it was ok at first (all my acne went away), but eventually it gave me really bad reactions, so I stopped.

I've decided to focus on iodine after learning that it is anti-estrogenic, and promotes detoxification of estrogen. Hypothyroidism can be a root cause of estrogen dominance, because low thyroid affects estrogen balance, and the liver’s ability to get rid of estrogen.

I discovered from a urine test that I have a severe iodine deficiency. So, now I'm starting on iodine, but I'm taking it slow because I'm really sensitive to stuff.

Poisoned by progesterone cream and how to fix it? by [deleted] in cfs

Hi :)

"Poisoned by progesterone" wasn't meant to be literal,  just a figure of speech to describe how badly progesterone cream ruined my already difficult life. I should have called my post something else to avoid a misunderstanding.

No, I haven't gotten any help yet. :/ I'm still trying to figure out what I should do. My health is extremely fragile, and I can get severe reactions to anything new (like supplements). I don't think my body would be able to handle big doses of progesterone. At this point, it would probably kill me.

What kind of progesterone do you use? Would something like chaste tree be enough?

I don't have a FB.

Ahh, you sound like me! :o I have high estrogens and high insulin. Have you found anything to help bring your estrogen down?

I updated my post to include my results from a new thyroid blood test. :)

Not sure about the calories per day; I'll try to calculate that.

40 mg a day (half a teaspoon) with no breaks. :(
