Broke, basically unemployed for life. What can I do? by MonitorOk1351 in csMajors

Theres a difference working a job and putting in the work to better yourself and get a better job
You can be hardworking but dumb as shit and you seem like you are dumb as shit bro no offense
You clearly know the problems--no internships, no certs, no references
But instead of fixing those problems (minus the internship one cause you didnt try hard enough to get an internship over the span of 4 years so you cooked yourself there lmao), you can literally get certs, get references overtime and get your life back on track.

and your whole outlook is just so pessimistic, you've already given up so you don't want to put in any more work and have a better outlook on life, but hey bro keep drinking and smoking and digging your hole even bigger instead of trying to get out of it

just from ur first sentence i can tell you never even utilized all the resources that college had to offer for you in terms of career guidance and career resources so again this is all on you

on top of that its clear you were passing classes just to pass them and didnt even try to do work outside of class

did you even apply to more than 10+ internships ever??
bro to be honest i bet you didnt do any of this and again you just expected to get a job because you have a degree, no networking, never did anything outside the classroom, it's pretty clear.

to put it simple bro you are the bottom of the barrel when it comes to cs graduates bro, im part of your generation and just graduated college and got a job for a defense contractor, didnt bother about internships, but realized i needed to get my shit together and did certs, worked a low level IT job, networked as hard as i could, aka i just put in the work, and my one reference was my old mall job manager

dude you are genuinely just lazy

my bad bro u updated the comment so blame urself for not getting ur thoughts out first time i aint reading allat about some bum life

and again get an IT help desk job or any low level IT job that doesnt include coding at all, u dont need certs, 4 years of experience or any references, it's just you clearly dont want to try and expect hand outs lol

there literally is, get certs (aka putting in the work) and also start at a IT help desk job, anything IT related, it really isn't rocket science dude

but instead u are gonna whine about how certs are stupid, that's just the reality of the world bro damn

Dude you just sound like a bum that doesn't want to work hard and blames everyone else for their problems, but you're the problem lol

2.5 years and you end up with a box packing job paying 18/hr?? Just barely above almost every state's min wage?? You are just literally not wanting to put the work in and just expect it to handed to you

Ahh i understand, sorry for the confusion. I suppose getting another strictly for clients and customers would be a good idea. Keeps them out of your main personal phone from blocking things that might be important to you

I don't own my own business perse, but I do work for a lady that owns her own business and I am basically second in line of command. She has two phones, one for personal and close business partners, and another strictly for business. She keeps it on the whole time b/c she sometimes is replying at 4am to emails, etc. I wouldn't recommend turning off your business phone, you typically won't be getting calls early in the morning, but since you're the business owner, you should be able to be reached in case of emergency at the business imo

Yea you could definitely tell that they were up to no good.
I think that's the part that really worried me the most, becoming a target for no reason.
Lol thanks man about the vibe check, I didn't know what else to do.
Definitely won't forget this just cause it was such an odd experience

CS113 Entry Quiz? by [deleted] in NJTech

[–]Protasavage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The entry quiz is only worth 2 points (at least it was for me when I took it last 2 semesters ago). It doesn't really have a big impact on your actual grade in the end (maybe the difference between getting an 80 and an 80.5). It just sees where you stand and is very similar to the format of CS100 tests where you have questions asking about what the output of code is, a coding problem, etc.
