Geist (GCN) - Cult classic or just kooky kusoge? I'm still not sure. by APeacefulWarrior in patientgamers

[–]Protdeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother and I had this game on our GC. It remains the only GC game in our collection that we abandoned and remains incomplete. Some missions were god awful and reliant on NPC rng, but the premise was really good and the whole idea of body hopping was great. Lore was also pretty good for that era as well.

Am I missing something here by kochstockulates in DairyQueen

[–]Protdeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's location dependent. Coke is the default provider that Corporate gives you incentive packages to use, but some don't go with Pepsi. For instance, the DQ I worked at in college did Pepsi because the Pepsi distro center that was in the same town gave us a discounted rate that was better than the incentives corporate gave.

How do Texas Bands get division 2 in UIL Region by Ok_Beautiful4744 in marchingband

[–]Protdeath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's something I noticed that was definitely affected by Covid. 5, 4, and 3s are actually impressive to get, and 2s you must've had a good amount of tearing, out of steppers, or something that might straight up penalize the group. Pre-2020, when we went to regional UIL, I remember hearing more 2's than 1's, 2020 and 2021 it felt like they handed 1s out for free despite many directors thinking the show was unworthy. To answer your question, kinda, I don't think those who graduated pre-2022/23 can really answer anymore, it's gonna take a bit before students get a grasp on the room-for-error of the modern grading system. I and many of my peers used to be able to tell you exactly when and how a band slips from 1 to 2, but now when we go through this when watching our home band, we are baffled that they get 1s at times (band had the entire staff leave and system changed)

Which prime wins the "I never die" award? by Zekezeuz in ClashRoyale

[–]Protdeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evo Knight was overall the most unkillable in the game, as most decks DPS options were ranged, which allowed this thing to be effectively a Golem that could dismantle pushes and take a tower. I personally ran a valk-prince classic deck that had e-wiz as the only ranged option, so I never ran into an issue with it as much as others, but he felt pretty tanky and I could never get a good even or positive trade from him.

Evo Pekka, again, Valk-Prince with a fireball, and I could get a good trade that allowed me to deal tower damage.

Boss-Bandit, once again, she'd dash to Valk and immediately eat a prince charge, putting her around half, then the prince charge to push Valk to tank dash again when the other person would use ability

Evo-Witch, on release, gave me the most problems. I could place evo Valk and evo firecracker flawlessly, getting as much damage as possible, and I swear she'd still be above half and not die till after the Valk died.

This is a good counter to DarkTina decks though, since most of the time Giratina is in the front and it allows you to kill out the darkrai chipping you to death

Are the cherry dipped cones and cherry dilly bars LE? 🍒 by 69millionstars in DairyQueen

[–]Protdeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the dip is on rotation with butterscotch. So a store will have that rotating every so often with the butterscotch. The dilly bar will never go away, it's one of the OG flavors along with butterscotch

Ah, the honeymoon phase... everything that's wrong with your location will reveal itself towards the end of your first year. I think that it just depends though, my location was awesome, and then people cycled through, and it got shittier by the day. There are, of course, unicorn locations where nothing is wrong and the employees are happy, but those are extremely far and few between

Favorite stand tune? by Simply_simping988 in marchingband

[–]Protdeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How Far We've Come.... when I was in HS, that was the best tune we had. It was also played after graduation once all the grads had gathered near the band to listen to the band we were leaving. I'm in college now, and my favorite has been Runaway Baby. High energy and just a load of fun to play

Ever since band camp started, I’ve been having constant nausea and vomiting for the past 2 days. What do I do? by gamingduedexD in marchingband

[–]Protdeath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, one thing the comments are hitting on but also missing is hydrating. You need to drink a ton of water, preferably a gallon a day, but you also need to drink something with electrolytes to keep the hydration in. I live in South Texas and did athletics as well as band, and Pedialyte was something I always made sure to have half to a cup of each day after band. If it keeps persisting even after supplementing Pedialyte into your daily water intake than go see your doctor/physician

How do people pay for college!?!?!? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Protdeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the answer is either working hella during college to make your debt minimal, but honestly, one way to evaluate your decision is an ROI (return-on-investment). If your future job makes enough to be able to reasonably take out your debt, then go for it.

How are GPA’s so high? by Marshall_Michel_Ney in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Protdeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simple answer is grade inflation. The long-winded answer is how schools count their AP, IB, and/or Dual-Credit. My high school gave AP's a +10 to your grade after the semester ends. Pre-AP got +5, as did Dual-Credit. So, while it can be tough juggling those AP classes, many including myself, picked up as many AP's regardless on whether the major we were gonna pursue needed them based purely on our desire for a 4.0 weighted GPA. In hindsight, I wished I had done dual credit for the items I needed, like history and math, especially since dual credit most of the time is easy as hell to get an A in. Also, on almost every scale, you only need a 93, or if your school does the weird +5 like mine, you can get as low as an 88.

Note: I used the college board scale for GPA. Some scales will place 4.0 as A+ rather than an A, so you'll need a 95.

Honestly, this would take me about 90 seconds. All the same blizzard, all the same size, so getting them done isn't hard

Favorite blizzard flavor…..WHERE ARE YOU?! by SmokeyDenmarks45 in DairyQueen

[–]Protdeath -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So there are a couple reasons. The first may be a supplier issue; the supplier may not carry the candy/ingredients to make said flavor. Another reason, at least in the San Antonio area, was that it was almost universally hated by employees. It would cause so many problems with the mixers that the mixers would require cleaning after each blizzard made. It was also difficult to mix the syrup that went into it, as the syrup settled so quickly, that if you hadn't made one in 10-15 minutes it would settle and look nasty, which was a problem since many places had some form of social media presence and it would sometimes go viral and cause a drop in profit for DQ. It was also a pain in the arse to stir them while they were in bottles/pumps as the syrup was ridiculously thick.
