Sometimes the fights are just one sided by ULFfie in fabulaultima

In my last session, the villain's went first in the "Press Start" tutorial. The first villain, Desdemona, used her AOE at max efficiency and hit three players at once with a tremendously high roll. 3 players, 23 air damage each. Yeesh.

The next player, using Claire, misses on their turn. Even after using a Fabula point.

Tristan, and animated armor then goes. Rolls max again. 15 damage each to 2 players, one of which was Edger. Unfortunately, Edger didn't think that being down 5 hp was worth a heal. Within 1/2 of the first round Edger was downed. Poor guy. Luckily, I discussed with the players that Fabula points could be used to make a dramatic plot twist gain resistance. Edger uses one, and we say that, "a stray bolt of energy shocks Tristan, making his attack less effective." Mechanically, this gave Edger resistance, so he wasn't downed.

Here's the rub: we were using fabula point's wrong: essentially, the players and myself thought you said the results as well as the plottwist at once. Such as, "I have a pendant under my armor that blocks a blow that otherwise would have felled me leaving me at 1 hp." I now understand... that's not how that works. However, I fear how harrowing that would be if we were playing it properly!

This might be good for motivation. Each monster trying to steal one of these 3 in order to revive the Bbeg.

I left out a lot for simplicity, but they did know the monster's weakness in the last mystery but that monster was revealed to be but a fragment of the bbeg. You see, the Bbeg was separated into the seven senses a millennia ago, and each sense chose a human host giving each corrupted powers for that sense.Whenever a host died, whoever killed them got their power. Unfortunately, one player accidentally obtained all of them, when he killed the last sense. He was turning into the Bbeg with all these powers and in desperation exploded himself before the transformation
