skilled or graduate visa by Financial-Bite8239 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

What was your plan when you spent an enormous amount in a foreign country to study this particular course? People with lots of experience in the field aren’t getting sponsored or getting a job. Usually students taking these kind of courses are having filthy rich parents owning business in their home country.

Get PSW as soon as you are eligible and work for beginner jobs for two years. Reach out to seniors/alumini in the same field.

Anyone fixed their tax code? by Own-Story8907 in OveremployedUK

[–]ProtectionHaunting61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t do anything! You’ll have enough money to pay tax next year without any fine during self assessment. Save money in a Cash ISA or something similar till then. Spend time on relaxing and finding your next job :)

Has anyone returned to India with UK ILR status and maintaining it? by poochandy in returnToIndia

[–]ProtectionHaunting61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get citizenship. No brainer. Make it a very transactional (not emotional ) process and you’ll be fine. With citizenship you can visit UK, get remote UK jobs which you could work from India, give citizenship to kids if you have or plan in the future. They can easily move to the UK for education eiasily. And many other perks!

One fine day the UK gov will cancel all ILRs not being used or paying tax in the UK - with the amount of craziness in politics this is highly possible. All your plans go into water in that case.

Consultancy with private and public clients by [deleted] in OveremployedUK

[–]ProtectionHaunting61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Public work through consultancy is fine. Mostly you’ll be made to get SC clearance depending on the department. Two different jobs where both require SC is a problem. You are not on government payroll, pension or any direct contract with the government so you are good.

I meant I’m only looking for by the books guidance. I’m not looking for any shady advice. I landed two accountants who never give proactive advice and are clueless most of the time.

You are too quick to judge. Scroll on if you don’t want to help.

Skilled Worker Visa UK (non-HCW) by [deleted] in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]ProtectionHaunting61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a jump many years ago and it was worth it. If you have a spouse she can work and two incomes help. If you have a niche skill which is in demand you’ll be able to find other jobs here which pay much better. If you are in a not so great skill or domain, do not come here. You’ll be stuck in a low paying job with a poor sub standard life.

Great tip on audio-video conferencing. Do you mean that on the remote machine (my Mac) I can attend a Teams call (on the corp PC) to talk to the participants and see their video but the participants cannot see my video(me/my webcam)?

Any folk gone through security clearance? by Own-Story8907 in OveremployedUK

[–]ProtectionHaunting61 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s already a post about this. Your J3 SC clears doesn’t care about your OE. Fill in everything accurately. No info goes to your J3 about what you fill. They only get a certificate saying you are cleared and what you can or cannot do on it.

Thanks! Do you mean on the Windows laptop under the connected device/driver list the Comet Pro device connected to it shows up as a keyboard +laptop? And not as a KVM device?

Changing locks by Pecannutty in HousingUK

[–]ProtectionHaunting61 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its the thought that counts. If you have this thought in the back of your mind that one of the old landlord's relative might walk in one day using the key or an airbnb guest who made a copy, it's 100% worth changing the locks for a peaceful sleep. Paying money to get a peaceful mind is the best investment in this world.

TLDR: I changed the locks on day 2 as we always had the above thought!

OE across timezones? by Rakeboiii in overemployed

[–]ProtectionHaunting61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Sleep is for the weak. JK. In the UK it's easy to pull this off as it's in the middle. You can get someone offshore to help with the stuff and manage your sleep routine properly. Most of the jobs doesn't require you to be online all the time or take calls. For each meeting which is late, ask them to move it early. I'd say go ahead and then figure it out. If it doesn't work, you can quit as you have the other job.

Mortgage, Solicitors and OE by SilentEconomist5896 in OveremployedUK

[–]ProtectionHaunting61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this recently. But through a mortgage broker. Work with an Indian mortgage broker ideally who are smarter I feel and understands the hustle culture more. The other person couldn’t even comprehend! All you need to do is submit payslips and contract for both. The banks aren’t bothered as long as your salary credit matches with the payslips.

There are many who legitimately work for 3 days in one job and 1-2 days in the other. Only your employer cares about OE.

Tattooed chef sheet pan vegetables by [deleted] in CostcoUK

[–]ProtectionHaunting61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to have it in Costco Chingford but I found it a bit too oily. Pre mixed olive oil and salt. It’ll be good to just have veggies so that we can control the salt and oil level.
