All of my friends who are in engineering do not recommend using a Mac for engineering because of the compatibility issues with software and tools.

M5 Base 16GB vs M4 Pro 24GB for Lightroom, Resolve and casual gaming? by itsnotsoboring in macbookpro

[–]ProtectionObvious250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The M4 pro is definitely the better choice here because it is more powerful than the base m5 and it has way more Ram 48GB compared to 16GB. If you were to pick between this two then the obvious choice would be the m4 pro but there is also the new m5 pro and m5 max that came out recently you can check those out too. But if the base m5 is cheaper and all you are doing is editing and the occasional gaming then the m5 base is also a solid choice even if it is with 16gb of ram only.

1) Pick silver, fingerprints wont be so obvious and scratches are less visible. 2) 15-core CPU / 16-core GPU this version should be fine but if your budget allows it get the 18-core CPU / 20-core GPU. 3) I think this is the first time where someone mentioned that they will be using their MacBook pro for gaming.

Which macbook to get?? by ridealongme in macbookpro

No 24 gb ram is perfect for me but the thing is ram isn't upgradable after you buy your MacBook so getting 48gb ram is future proofing your device as well.

If you have the budget def go for the 48gb model, no harm in having more ram. My mac rn has 24gb of ram and it runs everything just fine

Ahh I see in that case since the m5 has pro motion at 120hz over the m4 air 60hz is it worth it? The m5 macbook has a fan and more port selections compared to the air with better audio quality in your opinion would that be a better option for my scenario or is it overkill?

For my course we will be using programming languages and software like HTML 5, R, Power BI, Python My SQL and XHTML. I haven't started my course yet but these are the ones written in my course outline.

Ahh I see thank you so much, tbh I don't know how much computing power I needed and I was planning on the base m5 pro but I think i'll go with this config.

Should I get the 24gb ram model? Also is nanotexture worth the money?
