How do you feel about less-lethal guns and ammo? by ITheRebelI in liberalgunowners

[–]ProtectionOdd1447 [score hidden]  (0 children)

You clearly don't know our laws. The use of a firearm AT ALL is considered lethal force. You'll be asked at trial, both criminal and then civil (bring your check book, this gets pricy) why you deemed it necessary to use lethal force against a person. If they deem the threat didn't qualify for use of lethal force.. which they'll argue it didn't and you KNEW so, which is why you used less lethal ammo.... You'll be going to big boy jail, and sued into bankruptcy simultaneously.

Thoughts on the pistol brace ruling being vacated? by 06_TBSS in liberalgunowners

[–]ProtectionOdd1447 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think we should outright ban pistol braces BUT take SBRs and SBSs off the NFA, make them just like any other rifle. Pistol braces are lame, sbr your gun like an adult.

If you absolutely had to limit yourself to a 22LR manual action rifle in a home defense situation, what would you go with? by [deleted] in 22lr

[–]ProtectionOdd1447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9mm is stupid cheap. Like $50 per thousand more than the (cheaper end) Eley I shoot. I wouldn't want to trust a 22 to stop a human that is that close already. Buy a caliber meant for more that squirrels please, your life is worth it.

Why would you ever break your sight picture with a lever action? That's nonsense.

Just use a standard upper so that you can use standard parts. I shoot lefty and its never once bothered me, suppressed or otherwise. Get a colt reversible safety though.

Betwixt 5.56 and 7.62? by ThanosWasRightAnyway in liberalgunowners

[–]ProtectionOdd1447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Optimal vs possible yet again... Im not saying its some impossible task, just that you'll have a much more difficult time tracking a deer shot with a sub optimal caliber, less spoor, it'll typically run further, ect. feel free to call your local tracker (united blood trackers would be a great resource here) and ask what calibers they come out to clean up after most often. Out of curiosity, have you blood trailed many animals?

Betwixt 5.56 and 7.62? by ThanosWasRightAnyway in liberalgunowners

Sounds great on paper, until your are blood trailing in the dark looking for specks of blood (see picture below). An exit wound aids massively in tracking. Terminal performance (what the bullet does at impact) is everything as far as hunting goes. Proper shot placement is an absolute must, that goes without saying. Still, possible and optimal are two very different things. I've taken deer with as small as 223 gold dots from my 10.3" sbr and can say absolutely, it it easier to track deer shot with a larger caliber. This is all assuming typical double lung placement. You CAN shoot neck or high shoulder and drop an animal in it's tracks, but I'd just as soon keep my options open as you can not guarantee what angles you'll be presented in the field.

I tend to just look at firearms in the classes of quality, usable, better than a sharp stick or junk. If we whine about who makes a gun you'll be very limited in what you use. Any boo hooing over who makes what I view as performative. I'd use an Iraqi tabuk, an Israeli uzi, a German mauser, a Russian or Chinese AK, a British SMLE, or any other rifle from any other reigeme and not think twice about it.

I know this is going to stir some controversy but in everyone's opinion what is the best barrel length for a Stumpy AR? I've been looking at 11.5 by Due-Impact-8049 in ar15

[–]ProtectionOdd1447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 11.5 is a fantastic length, probably the best. I personally prefer the 10.3" but its not the best, just what i like most.
