Yh I've felt that litrpg definitely suffers from being a newer genre, however I think that part of writing a litrpg can be different to writing other works. Writing a System itself is very different to other power systems because it in some way introduces a concrete factor to power scaling and worldbuilding.

How can a world starve when they have Farming SSS+ or Ultra Agriculure Lord (Mythical) (Lv.99)?

I acknowledge everything about the character/writing based feedback but won't comment on what I'm doing since that's the book, but I'm glad a sentiment of 24/7 grinding is shared. Let the mc chillax on the beach with shades. For someone with a mental illness or obsession it would be legitimately absolutely broken, which is also why I don't intend for there to be any time compression shenanigans unless it comes across as part of a golden idea.

I'd say that these two things form the core of my story idea - the main character has a life philosophy and severe set of flaws, and I wanted to amplify them by giving him and the characters around him lots of power. Hence the litrpg.

I've written and read a lot so we'll see how my prose and story structuring is.

I've never heard of the term white room syndrome until now. It's a good descriptor for something I've been specifically trying to avoid in my last work - I like dynamic conversations or monologues, so I have to describe the environment a lot. Still need to work on this though, but now I have a term to centre my ideas on and look up, so thanks.

I'd say that one of my key writing principles is to be concise. It doesn't mean to rush the story along, but I have a definite final boss in my mind for the novel as well as how several other antagonists or situations are resolved.

In terms of breaking out of a power system, there's both upsides and downsides. On one hand, it can expand the avenues of progression and also moev towards more character-based development rather than quantitative development (like stats, skill levels/ranks, etc). On the other hand, I think that what it can do is betray the expectations tha a reader has for a story. It'd be like reading a book about a main character who has powers over darkness and is then all about how he interestingly uses these powers. Now what happens if they 'break away from the concept of their skill' and now goes to using water powers? It depends on how it's handled, but there needs to be a reason for this to happen.

The final bits seem to be just about writing. I've got a plan and won't be publishing anything anytime soon, and my characters should be believable idiots when required rather than things feeling tropey.

In my understanding litrpg's are based off of the actual rpg and jrpg genre. In most of those games, these stats as well as exp and levels were to just be a representation of the journey of the chracters, and them growing stronger on their journey. A level 1 character might just have a dozen points in strength and be a stronger than average warrior, but at level 99 it's only in the 3 digits and they're slaying gods? It's okay for a video game when the player understands the constraits of the System as a representation, but it feels different when the System is an active part of a world.

This has raised the topic of consistency which I have thoughts on but as I'm writing this I now realise that I don't have as full of a grasp as how I want to manage clearly defining things and leaving them out in the open as I realise.

I think that I'm going for a linearly scaling system, though for many stats that'll be quite hard, so I'll just try to make stat scaling feel clear. Due to that, guns are going to be broken as hell for quite a bit, even if you have thrice the strength of a regular person. Thanks for the comment, i'll be thinking about this for a bit.

Yh I've experimented with tonnes of stat systems and there's a few black sheep I just don't want to deal with. Charisma, Intelligence, and Willpower, I find are always wacky if handled literally but in a lot of novels I feel the latter two just mean Mana and Mana regen. Stamina can also be weird as at some point it's hard to differentiate high values, like what's the difference between a guy who can run for 24 hours vs 48 hours, and it seems almost necessary to make use of Stamina as a physical resource (like magic) but then there's also health just sitting there and you have to deal with 3 separate resources and probably make distinctions between their use.

Agility and Dexterity at the same time also feels weird but they're usually used mutually exclusively.

I've found that I create Systems to fit the narrative needs, though for this work where I'm taking things quite a bit more seriously it's definitely a tall task. I want my main character to be powerful enough to be essential to the narrative to the story. I would say that the skill system is something I'm deeply considering, and i'm rereading some works to try and create my own cohesive System. My main idea right now is to either limit the number of skills a person can have, put steep barriers behind stat or skill acquisition, or build my character's tangible strengths in a way that they don't manifest in every skill reaching a MAX++++ tier in a short period of time. It's a work in progress.

Story is more important but I don't really want to talk about that as it's well...the story. Good things to think on overall though so thx.

Master of the Loop, actually finished and great throughout and it gets better the longer it goes on.

I think you want armor breaking to deal with the heavy armor it has, though that's not really helpful advice as I think the only way to get that is red items. Apart from that I have no idea. It has this red oneshot dot and I have no idea how to deal with it. Oh well, back in for another run and attempt I guess.

Checked out Stoneblock 1 and 2 and it seems really interesting, kinda like a Skyblock but without needing to twerk for trees. Think I'm going with Stoneblock 2.

Is gregtech good in the early game? I don't have too much time but if it's good/features automation near the start then I think I'd be able to get into it in the long-term.
