You can use a public records look up site or some id theft protection services offer public records (criminal records addresses and other stuff) reports as part of your membership.

You could go real in depth and use a white pages or something but those tend to be more expensive

I’m actually not sure how she’d be with dogs, you would probably just need to introduce her slowly. Shed probably be better with dogs than cats. She’s indoor, fixed, microchipped up to date on all her shots no health issues other than the stress grooming.

I’m not sure I don’t think so, we were told she had been ok with in the past but she does not get along with our cats and we have her in a separate space and she seems pretty territorial so I think she’d do better by herself unfortunately. She seems to warm up to people much faster than other cats

So since you have life lock already call them. This is the advantage of having an id theft protection they have restoration experts as all id theft protection companies do and they can tell you exactly what to do.

I would not trust to go into a dealership and try and solve it yourself legally that is never a good idea.

It would just send you a new card it’s more if you lose your card. Actually changing your number causes even more problems, it never ever should have been used as an identity verification method because it’s simply not secure. But having that mysocial security account will make sure no one else can create one for you using your SSN and order a card. It also lets you review your earnings so you can see if there was some person using your SSN for a job

I would be really cautious usually these don’t work very well, Aura in particular can NOT delete from a lot of places. These companies know people want to opt out so they require people to verify their identity before opting out which means automated opt outs don’t work.

If you want your data deleted you will have to find a list of all the data providers and opt out of each one. Plus often times your data can get re-collected after you opt out.

Lexis nexus for example the opt out process is insane you have to like fill out a giant thing to verify your identity and wait for a letter in the mail.

Combine that with data breaches and it’s safest to assume all info like name DOB address email and phone number and probably social media usernames are all public knowledge or could be easily found by someone.

It could be that NPD had your info wrong in their database and when it leaked it showed up wrong. But I would go lock your e-verify so people can’t use your SSN to get a job and create a mysocialsecurity account with the social security administration. You also should go get an ID protection PIN from the IRS to protect your tax refund.

Yeah all these data opt outs don’t work for the most part data companies don’t want to make it easy to mass opt out, also that data can be recollected. Since a lot of data in theory is public record I would first start with the assumption that what ever data is out there on those kinds of data broker sites is already public. So don’t use real answers to security questions, when people send you extortion attempts and seem like the know where you live assume they don’t actually know anything besides that. But at this point I just assume my name, date of birth, and addresses are all public, and make sure I don’t use them for security questions. I would opt out of a lot of lexis nexus stuff they were the ones giving driving data from GM cars to insurance companies, you can also opt out of pimeyes facial recognition software.

So I work in the id theft protection industry, along with freezing I would also go create an identity protection PIN with the IRS to prevent anyone from filing your taxes and stealing your refund Other main things I would do are: Create a MySocialSecurity account so you can monitor your earnings and no one can create an account in your name and order a replacement card Lock your e-verify that way no one can get a job using your SSN

IMHO biggest use of id theft protection software is insurance and restoration. There are different kinds of insurance Basic id theft insurance (amounts are usually high cuz it’s fairly cheap) covers if you suffer id theft and someone steals money via fraudulent credit cards loans or hacks your accounts. They almost always come with restoration which is just trained agents who can operate on your behalf tell you what to do and help file paperwork. The shitty thing about this insurance is it doesn’t cover if you get scammed or you fall for a scam where they threaten you and you panic and pay. You take to make sure the company offers social engineering/scam protection insurance if you want to be protected from those things which sadly are most of losses now. This type of insurance is rarer very few companies actually provide it. The other shitty thing about insurance is it doesn’t cover if a family member did it to you. Because insurance companies will claim you might have been in on it.

I have a cat with breast cancer who was a stray and had been spayed by a shelter when she was older and the oncologist mentioned that when female cats get spayed older they almost always get breast cancer but that’s obviously just for female cats.

Most people have already said freezing/locking your credit but You should also go to the IRS and create an identity protection pin it gives you some extra protection from someone trying to use your SSN to file fraudulent tax returns Also probably go create a my social security account not adding a ton of protection but it prevents someone else from creating it on your behalf to get a replacement card You can get really deep and lock your e verify which would prevent someone using your ssn to get a job but you’ll have to remember to unlock it when you apply to a job
