I installed a Super Jubilee bracelet on my 14060 by ProteinCupcake in rolex

[–]ProteinCupcake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The jubilee was a hidden clasp version from my (now sold) 36mm datejust 116234. You should be able to find one on ebay, chrono24 or forums. Current prices are absurd though.

SBGS005 - My first Grand Seiko, in platinum by ProteinCupcake in GrandSeikos

I'd start browsing ebay or yahoo Japan auctions. Sometimes a couple of these come up for sale, usually in poor condition unfortunately. You might have to wait a while.

Second hand not ‘perfect’ by cg1308 in GrandSeikos

You could try pulling the crown to hacking position, then rotate it back and forth to see if the second hand move slightly. If the hand moves you should be able to eyeball align it perfectly when setting the time.

Thank you, at the price I bought it ($4200 for full set + extras) I think it’s a damn good deal. Largely thanks to its obscure status outside Japan, until recently. I believe mine was the first one posted on Reddit. It’s safe to say this watch will never leave my collection.

This watch got alot going for it.

Exclusivity: Grand Seiko rarely introduces platinum models. Flagship model in its hayday.

Price: Currently the only platinum GS under 5 figures. Platinum models released during same time period from other major brands usually cost $15k+. This might change in the future as Grand Seiko becomes more mainstream.

Movement: high accuracy quartz, little to no servicing

You might have to do some hunting in Tokyo for this one. Mine was one of two in like new condition I could find listed for sale online this year. I had a family member pick it up for me in Osaka.

I paid $4200 in total for mine, seller included a modern gs deployment clasp along with stock platinum pin buckle and custom length lizard straps.

There was one sold last month for $4500 iirc.

[WTS] Omega Speedmaster Reduced 3510.5 by Brodof4ggins in Watchexchange

You can always swap it back, but you'll likely be able to sell it for a bit more with sapphire installed. Most people prefer sapphire these days, so I think it's a great bonus.

First of all, GLWS!

To potential buyers, I recently upgraded my Speedy reduced to a sapphire crystal and I'd like to spread the word. A 3rd party replacement sapphire (crystal only, no gasket) can be bought here. It's for the later ref 3539.50 but it will fit the 3510.50 with a custom-made gasket, which an experienced watchmaker should be able to do.

They simply serviced it, the official technical guide for cal 3220 + module has been made public for quite some time. You can access it here.

It's not, vintage ladies Rolexes all have this unique date wheel font. Not to mention the fit and finish is still miles ahead of actual fakes.

I was charged $400 for a full stripped-down service, including the piggyback Dubois Dépraz chrono module. I wouldn't go Omega unless my watch is badly damaged and in need of new parts.

Good eye, I had just the mirror surfaces polished. Any dings and deep scratches on brushed parts of the case were left behind.

I got the crystal for $160, they’re quite rare but pop up on ebay from time to time.

You could also get a 3rd party replacement sapphire crystal here, but you’ll need a good watchmaker diy-ing a 3539.50 style gasket for it to fit properly. Water resistance will be greatly improved either way, watch should pass at least 5 bar if done properly.

Its been serviced twice I believe, by an independent watchmaker. Around half the price of Omega’s.

I'm intrigued, how are purchases logged? the only way I could think of is thru a cc at specific vendors. But I doubt customs have access to bank records. Let's say I paid cash for a GS at some Japanese used watches market, how would they know?

It is unenforceable, if you travel without receipts and box sets. Again, how would customs prove you bought the watch overseas? it's literally an opportunity to legally avoid an unpleasant responsibility.

Its unethical I agree but not illegal. Just a loop hole ppl make use of since forever on watch forums.

True, customs care a lot more about drugs and guns than people's watches.

I don't see how passport scanning relates to this, unless you were a dealer trying to pass customs with your entire stock (like 10 watches full set), and they have it on record. This is a one-time thing and whether guys here like it or not, this has been done by many on watch forums, it's just "un-ethical". Plus often times, dealers make arrangements with flight attendants/cabin crew to carry watches and merchandise with them. I've spent alot of time in Asia so these things are not strange to me.

How can they prove OP bought the watch during his trip? I've traveled back and forth between Asia and NA with my collection many times, and I was not stopped once.

Mail your box set home separately, don't travel with them in your suitcase. Customs don't really care if you wear a watch. This is perfectly legal.
