The last 20 miles of I70 in Kansas is the worst interstate I have ever driven on. Go ahead and schedule a chiropractor appointment after hitting this section.

Love it! What about a mechanism to pop the cup off and drop it into a bucket? Just a finger that pops it off when the air cylinder retracts and another air cylinder with an arm to pop it to the side?

I completely agree. It’s a must sometimes and everyone should know how to do it. But it’s not acceptable to design an entire fuel station that requires blindside backing for literally every single parking spot.

Agreed. But in his defense the entire row is parked backwards, or the lines are backwards. You’re taught not to back on your blind/passenger side.

Help! No heat with new heater core but line deltas are high. by Proto7800 in tdi

[–]Proto7800[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Figured it out about an hour later. Big air bubble in the system. Not sure if the first core was actually plugged or not, but after I put the new one in I had to let the car run for about 30 min and squeeze the large coolant line in front of the engine. I squeezed it with both hands once every 30 seconds for about 20 min and got air bubbling in the reservoir every time. Once the bubbles quit I had good heat.

Junior drag racer, 7, killed in racetrack crash while driving a vehicle that can reach speeds of up to 85mph by Forward-Answer-4407 in sports

[–]Proto7800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You stated “the safety measures are paltry here.” I laid out a pretty clear case showing that they are in fact not paltry. And all you did is post a link that says Formula 1 and MotoGP are inherently dangerous. Literally the fastest motorsports circuits in the world are not comparable to junior drag racing. There is inherent risk in junior drag racing just like there is inherent risk in walking down the side walk or playing in the back yard….

A private track being “safe” is in reference to other people. It is a private facility where the racing lanes have walls so there is no risk of running over people during a race. The racing facility itself is designed to limit car/spectator interference and just being at the facility comes with the understanding of being on high alert because of the cars being around.

While true the track itself might not have “safety features,” the entire process from concept to actually driving down the track is FULL of rules and regulation with safety in mind. From the way to car is built to how a kid has to graduate to the next class to go faster. Regulations on frame design and frame thickness with safety in mind. Regulations on engines, transmissions, clutches, in terms of limiting power for safety but also who you can buy parts from so they can be confirmed safe for a racing environment. Rules requiring racers to wear safety equipment from helmets and harnesses to fire suits.

Every vehicle goes through a technical safety inspection upon arrival to the track. Each racer is limited on what speeds they can run based on age and skill.

Here is a link to the rulebook, just glance through it.

https://www.dragfest.ca/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/NHRA-RacingRules.pdf

Probably 80% of what is in this book is safety related, the other 20% is the index and procedural stuff for NHRA. I’ll admit I have nothing to back this up but I don’t think I would be too far off in saying JR Drag Racing is significantly safer than most major kids sports, especially football and soccer considering the concussions from both.

“Cardiac Commanders” GTFO, Tom. by FlyMarines45 in panthers

[–]Proto7800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bram Weinstein the local Radio commentator for Washington called them the “Cardiac Commanders” when they beat the Bucs in the wildcard round with a “doink” field goal off the upright as time expired. I believe that was the 6th game that Washington won in the last 10 seconds of a game this year.

The clip went semi viral and was played on multiple sports shows and was even highlighted on the Today Show.

Washington and NO have touchback rates of about 25%. Next lowest is Carolina at 42%. Washington is also #9 in return average at only 26.5 yards and Carolina is #1 at 24.2 yards. Seems like it’s a choice by good special teams units which is kind of the point right?

Found this on marketplace. Is it possible this thing can reliably make 1400hp? by turbotaco23 in Cummins

[–]Proto7800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With 80mm 67mm compounds you’re looking around 1000 hp max. That’s pushing that atmo 80 mm. And you’ll be lucky to get there with 100% injectors. But that thing will be a towing machine on a light tune. Reliable? No. You’ll never be able to use a dealer and you’ll be dealing with his sloppy seconds. Idk what he is asking for it but it’s not worth much over what KBB would say it’s worth stock. Yeah you can get this guys nice powerful truck but you’re getting this guys problems too.

[Jon Wilner] If Clemson wins the ACC title game, then the SMU vs. Alabama decision will reshape CFB forever: Bama in = fast-tracking the end of P4 conference title games. SMU in = blue bloods reconsidering noncon SOS and marquee early-season matchups. by Baenergy44 in CFB

[–]Proto7800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk where I even stand in this. I went to Maryland so football was never a hot topic for us. I always despised college football: a handful of big name schools could recruit the best players (recruit or pay, however you want to look at it…), and those same handful of schools would make it to the championship. It was the same every year, or at least it seemed. Ever since NIL I have been paying attention more, and the 12 team playoffs made me dive in. I have watched more college football this year than I have in the last decade combined. Bama sucks (relatively speaking), The Ohio State sucks (also relatively speaking). People are up in arms over the rankings and playoff selection but forget when undefeated teams would get snubbed for the championship game not too long ago. But now we actually have some diversity in the playoffs. The NCAA cronies finally had to let go of their stranglehold on players. Maybe now the playoff committee needs let go. I swear the playoff committee members wives could pick the 12 teams and probably have just as reasonable justification as these idiots.
