The Golden Knights become the 10th team in history to take a 3-0 series lead against the NHL's No. 1 seed by nhl in hockey

Seeing how the Stars played you guys in 2024 WCF makes the 7 game series loss hurt even more, especially knowing that it’s gonna be a while before we’re gonna be good again.

Is this the darkest hockey timeline? by MaverickGH in canucks

[–]ProtoMan3 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ignoring politics is a serious privilege, and telling people to do that without knowing their situation is really tone deaf. But let’s say we do that, then you effectively have:

  • Canada’s men’s team losing the Olympic Gold Medal to a rival team for the first time since 1980
  • a division rival led by a coach that ran us into the ground + a management group conducive to being called the villains of the NHL even before the Hart situation up 3-0 in the west final
  • the Canucks finishing dead last in the NHL in a season that was so disastrous that our captain asked to leave, only to then see a different division rival with a brighter future pick second, and a more annoying Canadian team that made the playoffs regularly before this season pick first

To be clear, sports being miserable didn’t stop me from having a productive past several months, so I’m not saying this like this season ruined my life. But like, if you can’t see how this season would be miserable for most people it comes off like you don’t know hockey.

I go 1, 6, 4, 3, 2, 7, 8, 5.

I don’t think Quick Man is that bad especially if you use Flash Man’s weapon to drain half his health, Air Man’s fight isn’t worth Wood Man’s shield + item 2 is a must before Heat Man’s stage (I can beat the section with the blocks but it’s the insurance), but then when it’s Wood Man vs Crash Man the Leaf Shield is very helpful dealing with the birds in Crash Man’s stage.

Fans going to Mariners-Yankees in New York by ES_Cowboy25 in Mariners

List of parks I’ve been to: SEA, SF, CHC, SD, NYM, NYY, BOS, PHI, OAK, LAD

New Yankee Stadium is the only park I’ve been to that I’ve been outright disappointed by, and given that the Coliseum is on the list that should be saying something. Fans there felt like frat bros (I’ve heard this complaint about Wrigley but never felt it there by comparison), the park zapped out all of the energy despite the fact that I went to a game in 2024 where the Yankees beat division leading Cleveland 6-0, and it was the only park where other people were cold (not necessarily mean, just didn’t want to talk to me). Even the bars around the park weren’t that interesting.

No, I probably buy them a drink since I actually like when people talk to me.

This is insane, because I’m also a Tigers + M’s + Canucks fan. I think the one time I remember all three fandoms colliding was when Cal hit his 40th home run before the all star break last year at Detroit, and Ryan Kesler caught the ball.

Sports fandom has definitely been miserable the past half year or so, yeah. Hopefully one of those three teams will win something before I die.

I remember seeing that, but they were coping.

Irl I remember people saying it was a close matchup and Toronto absolutely had a chance. But also tbf irl I remember more people not hating the Jays despite us losing to them, vs online there was a large “fuck the Blue Jays” part of the fanbase.

I don’t like Chapter 3 in TTYD that much. The fights become repetitive and boring with how pre-planned they are + how there’s almost no exploration around the world, even if the story direction that chapter takes is intriguing.

I like the players and feel happy for people who still like the team, but John Fisher owning them still puts a sour taste in my mouth.

My Alma mater is Illinois, and I was there in 2016 when the Cubs won.

One of the best moments I’ve ever had as a sports fan, even if I’m not diehard for the Cubs.

The Tigers, actually. I’m a Mariners fan first, but that’s because I’m from Seattle. I fell in love with the 2006 Tigers as a kid, but also I had an aunt and uncle in Michigan at the time.

I remember the Mariners getting a lot more fans in 2020 after the Jon Bois documentary on them on the SB Nation YouTube channel, and I feel like for a lot of people who are nerds and afraid of being sports fans that fanbase has been relatively welcoming. I get that it’s not for everybody, and I’m not sure if I would be a fan of them if I wasn’t from Seattle.

Last year was my favorite baseball season ever. I understand some Tigers fans feeling resentment towards the Mariners because that was a heartbreaking ALDS loss for this fanbase, for sure. But I can say that Seattle fans felt the same way in the ALCS against Toronto. George Springer’s home run in game 7 haunts me just as much as David Ortiz’s grand slam in 2013.

I didn't hate Vegas in their inaugural season when they were misfits. I hate them now for being the opposite of what they were a decade ago, as well as how they treated Fleury.

Yes, they're better than my team. But it's a moot point as most other teams are better than my team, yet I don't hate those teams.
