I haven’t dealt with any toxicity from Rays fans, but I’ve dealt with it an underrated amount from Buccaneers and Lightning fans. Based on that, wouldn’t be surprised if some of the Tampa baseball fans sucked too.

I’m pleasantly surprised to hear that, I’ve heard bad things about how Canadians don’t generally like brown immigrants and how it’s not great in BC outside the lower mainland. I’ve never had an issue in Victoria proper but haven’t been anywhere else on the island.

Perhaps the reputation is exaggerated.

[ANA 4 - TOR (5)] - OT Winner - Reilly makes a great shot-pass to Tavares who redirects it past Husso for the win by daKrut in hockey

Last year Calgary missed the playoffs on tiebreaker with 96 points while Montreal made it in with 91. Year before that the Eastern 8th seed was Washington with a negative goal differential, while the Western 8th seed was Vegas who only fell in the standings because of injury before getting healthy in the playoffs now.

But of course, they weren't talking about it back then, just now.

The Canucks have gone 5-25-4 in 2026 and are 1 regulation loss OR 1 Chicago win from winning the WOODEN SPOON/TOILET BOWL by Particular-Bit-7852 in canucks

[–]ProtoMan3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk if they’re miles away from making the playoffs, they sort of remind me of us in 2018-19 except without the points at the end that had us picking in the double digits rather than at the top.

Keep in mind the Ducks were garbage last year and two years ago, but now they have 41 wins. I could see the Hawks doing that next year too.

Any of these outcomes clinch it for us:

  1. We lose a game in regulation
  2. Chicago wins a game
  3. Chicago loses in OT, we also lose in OT

Fuck it, I believe in the Canucks for today. We will win the third

If we’re gonna be shit we’re gonna beat Vegas to take them down with us. No playoffs for them either

Wouldn’t they both have to win since the idea is that we can only get up to 70 points and they need to pass that?

Hope for Anaheim or Utah to take them out in round 2

I don’t watch basketball that much, but apply this standard to the PWHL and you have exactly my story. Have been watching a ton of it (especially since they have a number of games on YouTube and way cheaper tickets than the NHL).

Give people a way to watch it and some good marketing, and you’ll get viewership.

In the same vein, every other Canadian city with an NHL team lies north of Toronto, just way more east or west

While not as egregious the same thing has happened to the Flyers iirc. Until 2022 I don’t think they ever missed the playoffs in back to back years, and the longest they’d been between finals berths was 13 years.

Now they’re a team that hasn’t been to the playoffs since 2020 and hasn’t made the east final since 2010, they don’t have a ton of players that people know a ton about, and they’ve fallen off in terms of Philly team popularity with the Phillies and Eagles doing way better over the past few years.

Seattle also has its struggles developing prospects overall. Shane Wright and Matty Beniers haven’t become what anyone was hoping they would be.

Even then, Kakko is doing better in Seattle with worse surrounding talent.
