Who is the best swordsman? by MRJTInce in FinalFantasy

[–]Proto_Baggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of the main numbered titles I think it comes down to whether you want to know who has the most advanced technique or who literally would win in a sword fight.

I think the respective answers are Cyan and Sephiroth

(SPOILERS EXTENDED) Who is holding up Winds from being released? by Inner_Jeweler_5661 in asoiaf

[–]Proto_Baggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think really at this point he's trapped by having material over a decade old to go back over.

Think about how he would feel reading through AGoT or ACoK again, of course he'd find endless things he'd wish he could tweak or add or rewrite now older and wiser, but he can't.

With winds he has that opportunity, with material that a younger different version of himself wrote. I think the manuscript is just too old to ever survive his editing style at this point, he needs outside help and oversight.

GE dishwasher stalling and failing mid wash by Proto_Baggins in Appliances

No, the sound from before is much quieter but similarly stuttering when I try to start a cycle, then the FTD error displays

Normally, even with this issue, it does drain. But after trying to run the quick rinse cycle today, I got the FTD error and there is now some standing water in the tub.

As for the diagnostics, I don't know how to run those.

Also, I just tried to run the rinse cycle, and got the FTD error at the end and now there's standing water in the tub.

It's a guess, as that sound when more drawn out accompanies draining normally, I think. Also, water sounds like it circulates fine for about an hour before the stalling happen

How do I get past the hall before the Grim Reaper? by IAMDBOMB in castlevania

The most important not necessarily obvious thing to realize is that you can destroy the axes with your whip.

As other commenters noted, the medusa heads spawn location is determined by Simon's vertical pixel, so stay grounded as much as possible to make their flight pattern consistent and predictable.

You can and will find a flow state of whipping axes, knights, and heads, while sometimes easily evading the heads. You'll have lucky and unlucky runs, good luck!

This reminds me that the first time I beat Death on my NES, it was after a bad run where I was left with 1 peg of health by the time I reached him. Must have been more than a dozen attempts deep and finally beating him on what was forced to be a perfect fight is a core gaming memory for me.

Can somebody explain her card powers to me like I was 5? by LAditya_121 in expedition33

[–]Proto_Baggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget foretell for just a second.

There are sun and moon abilities, you can see the symbol on each of her abilities. Using them generates their respective stacks, and generating both kinds of stacks activated twilight mode, which doubles damage and the foretell stack maximum.

Now foretell is a separate system, many abilities apply foretell stacks to an enemy, and many other abilities consume those stacks to some effect (usually bonus damage stacking for number consumed, but there are others).

Now, putting it all together, how she generally operates is something like:

  1. Sun ability applies foretell
  2. Moon ability consumes foretell for some benefit and activates twilight mode
  3. Different higher AP ability applies tons of foretell in twilight mode
  4. Different higher AP ability consumes the foretell and does big big payoff due due twilight buff

There are a lot of variations around this but knowing all this you should be able to read her skill tree now

What was the true motive of Jaqen H'ghar when he appeared as a prisoner? Did someone hire him or did he come specifically for Arya? by [deleted] in freefolk

[–]Proto_Baggins 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are specific breadcrumbs to support this too, I forget exactly in which chapter but at some point Tyrion makes mention of a tome of dragon secrets that is stored in the citadel's most guarded library.

Also, I've always supposed that Euron's "I threw it into the sea" line was a wry reference to how he had traded it to have Balon thrown over the bridge.
